Salvar got out of the car first.
Silas stared at the space Silas had occupied for a moment longer than was necessary.
Then he got out.
He locked the car and followed the narrow lane toward Funtafun with his hands in his pockets and the specific expression of someone who had made a decision and was not examining it further.
Salvar walked slightly ahead. Heels on stone. The sequin coat shone, catching what little light the lane offered.
"Oh, I remembered something," Salvar said without turning around.
Silas raised his eyebrows.
"Your logistics manager was the one who told me Matthew worked here."
Silas said nothing immediately.
"I was wondering, why would he come here," Salvar continued. "Out of all places. And then mention it to me. And then end up connected to a contraband investigation through your company." He paused. "I only just put that together."
Silas walked.
The cold moved through the lane and the music from Funtafun reached them before the building did.
