Chapter 2: The Threat and The Summons

(Keifer's POV)

The silence after Aries' call felt heavier than anything I had ever carried before.

I sat on the couch inside Angelo's house, staring at my phone like it had just stolen something from me.

Jay was moving on.

The words kept echoing in my head like a broken record.

Moving on.

Without me.

Without waiting.

Without looking back.

My fingers slowly tightened around the phone. I didn't even realize Angelo had been watching me from across the room until he finally spoke.

"You look like someone just buried your soul," he said quietly.

I let out a dry laugh.

"Something like that."

Angelo leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

"Jay?"

I nodded.

"She's… done waiting," I said, my voice rough.

Angelo didn't respond immediately. He just sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"I told you things were getting complicated," he muttered.

Before I could answer, the front door suddenly slammed open.

Both of us looked up.

Yuri walked in.

And the moment I saw his expression… I knew something was wrong.

His eyes were cold. Not the usual irritated or annoyed Yuri.

This was different.

Dangerous.

"Yuri?" Angelo frowned. "What the hell—"

Yuri ignored me completely and walked straight toward Angelo.

"Did you tell her?"

The room instantly went silent.

Angelo's expression hardened.

"Tell who?"

Yuri's jaw clenched.

"Don't play dumb with me."

His eyes darkened.

"Did you tell Jay the truth?"

My heart skipped a beat.

Truth?

What truth?

Angelo scoffed.

"You seriously came all the way here to ask me that?"

Yuri stepped closer.

"If you did…" he said slowly, his voice dangerously calm, "I swear to God, Angelo… I will kill Keifer."

The words hit the room like a gunshot.

I stood up instantly.

"What the hell are you talking about?"

Yuri finally looked at me.

His expression didn't soften.

Not even a little.

"You shouldn't be involved in this," he said coldly.

"Too late for that," I snapped.

Angelo stepped between us.

"Yuri, that's enough."

But Yuri wasn't done.

His eyes were burning with something dark.

"Jay can never know," he said firmly. "Not now. Not ever."

Angelo's patience was clearly running thin.

"You don't get to decide that alone."

Yuri laughed bitterly.

"You think this is a game?"

He pointed directly at me.

"If she finds out the truth about Keifer… everything will fall apart."

My head was spinning.

"What truth?" I demanded.

Neither of them answered.

The tension in the room felt like it could explode at any second.

Then suddenly—

My phone rang.

The sound cut through the silence.

All three of us looked down at it.

Unknown international number.

I frowned and answered.

"…Hello?"

A calm, professional voice spoke on the other side.

"Is this Mr. Keifer Watson?"

My eyebrows furrowed.

"Yes. Who's this?"

"This is the legal department of the Watson Estate in London."

London?

I exchanged a confused glance with Angelo.

"We've been trying to contact you," the man continued. "You are required to come to London as soon as possible regarding your inheritance."

My mind froze.

"Inheritance?"

"Yes," he confirmed. "Your grandfather left a legal directive before his passing. The board of trustees would like to meet you in person."

Angelo's eyes widened slightly.

Yuri remained silent, but I noticed his expression change.

"What board?" I asked slowly.

"The Watson Corporation Board," the man replied.

My stomach tightened.

Watson Corporation.

The company my grandfather built.

The empire I walked away from years ago.

"You are the sole heir, Mr. Watson," the man continued. "There are documents and decisions that require your presence. We expect you in London within the week."

The call ended a few seconds later.

But the room remained silent.

Heavy.

Unreal.

Angelo stared at me.

"You never told me your family business was that big."

I ran a hand through my hair, trying to process everything.

"I didn't want anything to do with it."

Yuri suddenly spoke again, his voice quieter this time.

"Looks like you don't have a choice now."

I looked down at my phone again.

London.

Inheritance.

Board of directors.

And somewhere across the ocean…

Jay was starting a new life in New York.

A life without me.

I closed my eyes for a moment.

Maybe this was fate forcing me to move forward too.

Or maybe…

It was just another path that would eventually lead me back to her.

Either way, my life had just changed again.

Because the boy who lost the girl he loved…

Was now being called to become the heir of an empire.

And nothing about that future looked simple.
