Chapter 42: Breaking the Trap
After Izuku Midoriya moved away with Aizawa Shouta, All Might immediately turned and charged toward Tomura Shigaraki.
"Carolina—"
"Nomu."
Shigaraki spoke calmly.
The monster instantly stepped in front of him.
"Smash!"
All Might's crossed arms slammed forward, striking Nomu directly. The force of the blow sent a massive shockwave across the lake behind them, raising enormous waves that crashed against the shoreline.
When the water finally settled, All Might's expression became serious.
Nomu showed no damage at all.
The monster rolled its eyes toward All Might and opened its mouth in what looked almost like a mocking grin.
Then it lunged forward, trying to grab him.
All Might dodged the hug and drove a punch straight into Nomu's abdomen.
Still—no effect.
But in that moment, All Might noticed something.
There was a hole in Nomu's waist, and it was healing rapidly.
Regeneration…
Just as Akio Tatsuma had said.
But if Nomu possessed both regeneration and shock absorption, then who had caused that wound in the first place?
Who had managed to injure such a monster?
"If you want to harm Nomu," Shigaraki said casually, spreading his hands,"you have to tear off its flesh little by little."
"But that assumes you're even given the chance."
Nomu was his greatest creation.
A monster designed specifically to rival All Might.
"Thanks for the explanation," All Might replied.
Then suddenly he appeared behind Nomu, grabbed its waist, and slammed it backward into the ground.
"Then this should be easy!"
BOOM!
The impact exploded like a bomb.
Dust shot into the sky.
Shigaraki shielded his face from the shockwave.
From the distance, the students watching were stunned.
"Yeah! That's how it should be!" Rikido Sato shouted excitedly.
"They underestimated All Might!"
"Why does a back slam look like an explosion?" Minoru Mineta muttered in awe.
"All Might is insanely strong."
Tsuyu Asui nodded.
"In class he feels like a beginner teacher… but in battle he's completely different."
"Finish him!" Mineta shouted again.
When the smoke cleared, however—
A thin line of blood ran from the corner of All Might's mouth.
His expression tightened.
"So… this was the plan…"
Everyone suddenly saw what had happened.
Kurogiri had used his warp Quirk.
Nomu's upper body had been teleported beneath All Might, trapping him.
Nomu's arms were embedded into All Might's waist, locking him in place in an unnatural position.
"Are you planning to drag him into the concrete and immobilize him?" Shigaraki asked with a twisted grin.
"That won't hold."
"Because Nomu's strength… rivals yours."
Kurogiri's voice echoed calmly.
Nomu's fingers were buried deep into All Might's flesh.
Even the Symbol of Peace struggled to move.
"Perfect timing, Kurogiri," Shigaraki laughed.
Kurogiri frowned slightly.
All Might was still trying to break free with brute strength.
The power of the Symbol of Peace was terrifying.
But it didn't matter.
Nomu's grip was too strong.
"All Might," Kurogiri said calmly.
"Nomu's job is to restrain you."
"And my job…"
A dark portal began forming.
"…is to close a warp gate around your body and tear you in half."
"Hey."
A voice suddenly interrupted.
Everyone turned.
Akio Tatsuma walked forward with his arms crossed.
Looking directly at the villains, he spoke casually.
"You three seem to have forgotten something."
"Did you really think we'd just stand here and watch you tear All Might in half?"
Beside him stood Shoto Todoroki.
On the other side was Bakugo Katsuki, reluctantly standing shoulder to shoulder with him.
In the distance, Midoriya watched anxiously while supporting Aizawa.
Now Nomu and Kurogiri were focused entirely on All Might.
Only Shigaraki could move freely.
Shigaraki suddenly looked irritated.
He had almost forgotten about Akio—the most troublesome one.
"Hurry up," he snapped at Kurogiri.
Kurogiri nodded and prepared to finish the execution.
"You're dreaming!"
Akio thrust his hands forward.
Lightning erupted between his palms.
"Thunder Spear!"
The spear of lightning shot forward and struck Kurogiri's silver armor.
That location was clearly something Kurogiri protected carefully—
his weak point.
"Don't get cocky!" Shigaraki shouted as he lunged toward Akio.
If he eliminated Akio first, the battlefield would become much easier.
But Todoroki moved instantly.
Two streams of ice shot toward Shigaraki, blocking his path.
Bakugo had learned his lesson about close combat.
He stayed back and launched explosions from a distance instead.
The lightning spear struck Kurogiri directly.
He flinched from the pain.
For a brief moment, his control over the warp weakened.
All Might immediately began struggling harder.
Kurogiri clearly feared electricity.
Akio's eyes lit up.
Perfect.
"I'm sorry everyone," Akio said quickly.
"Bear with this!"
He slammed both hands against the ground.
"Thunder Concussion!"
"Damn it!" Bakugo shouted as he blasted himself into the air to avoid the incoming attack.
Todoroki raised a pillar of ice beneath his feet to elevate himself.
Lightning exploded across the ground in all directions.
The entire battlefield trembled.
Electric arcs raced across the surface, striking every villain nearby.
Kurogiri was hit directly.
His warp field collapsed instantly.
The portal restraining All Might vanished.
Although All Might was struck by the lightning as well, his immense durability made the attack meaningless to him.
Akio's target had never been anyone else.
The entire attack existed for a single purpose—
to break the combination between Nomu and Kurogiri.
