Chapter 17 - Ch 17~ Who?

Aries's pov

Am I god's favorite child?

Surely I'm.

Maybe that's why He keeps tearing pieces out of my life one by one, hoping someday I'll finally get tired enough to leave this world on my own and walk straight into His arms.

Otherwise... why would He do all this to me?

Why would He give me a mother like her?

A mother who knew how to give birth to a child but never learned how to love one properly.

Why would He make me grow up without a father who actually stayed?

And the only sister I ever had...

Why did He take her away from me too?

Back when I was still too young to understand why the world already felt so cruel.

It's almost funny.

Every person who was supposed to protect me became the reason I learned how to survive alone.

And still...

The audacity of that woman to sit there and tell me she loves me. Loves us.

The day I slept in Jay's room her mother came.

She sat there probably thought I was sleeping but I was not.

She cried there holding my hands saying 'I'm sorry...I'm sorry aries.'

But what I will do with that sorry, it's of no work it can't heal the wound.

And it definitely doesn't heal the wound of growing up watching other people have mothers while yours slowly turns into a stranger standing inside your own house.

She said 'Forgive me aries for whenever I did'

But how can I forgive her if I had forgive her for what she did to me long ago. But not for what she did to my sister.

She cried there for a long time.

But why always I will be the place for people to cry?

What about me going to whom I will cry? who will be my place for comfort?

And like just this part my life wasn't messed up enough, he made my love life messed up too.

Today I had a nightmare about Ella.

The dream

One moment there's nothing... and the next I'm standing somewhere I don't recognize.

No walls. No ceiling. Just a wide, empty space washed in dull gray light, like the world forgot how to be bright.

It's silent, no exits, no direction.

Then I hear footsteps.

Ella.

Her footsteps come closer, steady like she's not afraid of anything anymore.

She stops in front of me.

But her face was emotion less. No emotions was visible in he face or eyes.

Just emptiness. Like she had erased me from her emotions before even speaking.

"I need to say it clearly." she says.

"I don't want you, Aries."

A pause.

Then she lets out a small, bitter laugh like she's tired of even standing here.

"You never were what I needed."

It felt like the world itself was pressing down on me, trying to flatten whatever was left.

Ella's eyes sharpen slightly.

And then the words start coming faster.

"I tried to feel something for you. I really did."

"But everything with you feels heavy."

"I'm exhausted just trying to understand you."

I try to speak, but my throat feels sealed shut. Like someone is trying to kill stabbing their nails in my throat.

"And honestly?" she continues.

My hands twitch, but I can't move them.

"You act like love is something people owe you." she said stepping closer.

"I don't want to be responsible for your feelings anymore."

"I don't want s*its like you!"

Then she left.

Jay Jay's pov

After coming home, I quickly changed my clothes and freshened up.

From my window, I spotted Yuri talking to someone on the phone. He was looking very tensed and maybe like he was about to cry.

I leaned closer to the window to hear what he is taking about.

"Please...I'm begging you..." his voice broke between talking.

"Just once just..." He couldn't even finish. The words drowned inside a choked sob.

"Let me talk to her...just once," his voice came like a plea bearly above whisper.

After that he was quiet for a moment maybe the person from other side was talking.

He sniffed several time while hearing then a faint smile appeared on his face.

"Ok ok...that will be ok," he mutter.

Then the call ended.

But who he was taking to?

He kept staring at the phone screen as if waiting for it to light up again. Second by second, he grew more restless, pacing back and forth across the ground like a soul trapped inside a cage too small for its grief.

His expression was unreadable.

I don't think that I know this Yuri.

He was not the Yuri I knew.

He wasn't the Yuri I used to have a crush on.

It's like he is not the same person. He fells like a different soul is in body.

By the time he was already pulling his hair maybe from frustration or something else. There is something he is hiding, not telling anyone.

And I need to know whatever it is.

While pacing, he suddenly stopped.

His eyes dropped to his phone.

His fingers moved quickly across the screen before freezing after pressing something.

A faint sound echoed from the device, maybe he played a video.

And slowly his expression was changing not like happiness but his expression was turning like he was seeing something horror, pure horror like whatever he was seeing was destroying him from the inside.

Because tears were starting to flow from his eyes slow, silent, painful.

A broken sob escaped his mouth.

Another.

And another.

And he collapse on the ground.

My chest tightened painfully after seeing Yuri collapse like that.

What was happening to him?

And before I could stop myself, my feet were already moving.

I quickly opened my room door and stepped into the hallway, my heartbeat thudding loudly against my ribs.

The stairs creaked softly beneath my hurried steps.

Aries stood near the staircase railing wearing a loose black hoodie, one hand lazily tucked into his pocket.

His sharp eyes narrowed slightly at me.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?"

"I... nowhere," I answered quickly.

"Jay, you know it's not safe for you to go outside alone." he snapped his voice suddenly sharper than usual.

"Ugh...just let me go. It's just the garden," I hissed irritably.

Aries frowned at me, confusion flashing across his face for a brief moment.

Like he wanted to ask something else.

But in the end, he stepped aside silently.

The moment he moved, I rushed downstairs.

I quickly headed toward the garden.

The evening air hit my skin the moment I stepped outside.

Cold.

So cold that it sent shivers crawling through my entire body.

The garden lights flickered faintly beneath the sky while the wind rustled through the trees with a soft whispering sound.

I looked around but Yuri wasn't there.

Where did he go?

My eyes searched around desperately.

"Yuri?"

No answer came.

"Yuri?"

My voice disappeared into the cold wind.

No answer came back.

The trees swayed violently above me as the wind grew stronger, their branches scratching against each other like whispered warnings in the dark.

A distant thunder rumbled across the sky.

I wrapped my arms around myself and walked further into the garden, my shoes crunching softly against the damp pathway.

"Yuri!"

Still nothing.

My hair stuck against my face as I kept searching through the storm.

"Yuri!!"

Lightning flashed across the sky for a split second.

And in that brief white light.

I saw something near the far end of the garden.

I tried to look carefully but it was just a tree.

Where are you, Yuri?

I scanned the whole area but he was nowhere to found.

Suddenly my eyes got stuck on Aries' room window.

Someone was inside.

The curtains moved slightly from the stormy wind creeping through the half-open window, making the figure inside appear distorted and shadowy.

I narrowed my eyes, trying to see properly through the rain.

Who is that? Aries? Yuri?

Lightning flashed for half a second, illuminating the room in pale white light.

The person stood near Aries's desk.

Their face hidden in darkness.

I couldn't tell who it was.

My heart started beating faster.

The figure slowly reached for something on the table. Maybe a water bottle.

The person twisted the cap open.

Even from outside, I could somehow hear the tiny crack sound beneath the storm.

Then drank it.

Not a sip.

They swallowed everything desperately.

The bottle slipped from the person's hand.

And the person collapsed.

"Ahh..."
