Deep within the mountains and dense forest, there was a place that looked completely out of place compared to its surroundings.
It was a cliff valley, with a small waterfall and a circular lake of roughly twenty square meters.
Around the lake grew brilliant flowers and grasses, making the whole valley feel far less dark.
The waterfall's water flowed out from a crack in the cliffside rocks, gathered together, and then poured downward into that twenty-square-meter circular lake.
But none of that was the main point.
The main point was that the water flowing out from that rock crack was colored!
Red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, plus black and white—for a total of nine colors mixed into the waterfall's water!
Given the Dark Continent's eerie and gloomy atmosphere, the appearance of something so bright and beautiful, almost like a fairy-tale world, felt extremely abrupt. But on the Dark Continent, perhaps even abruptness was a kind of normal.
With a swish, a figure landed on the grass nearby.
The instant the figure touched the ground, the flowers and grasses there began growing wildly. One after another, they turned into huge, thick vines and man-eating flowers, tightly surrounding the figure!
"So this is the Dark Continent? As expected, only a dangerous place like this would have such a unique way of greeting a first-time visitor."
An impatient mutter came from inside the layers of plants.
The next second, a red light shone through the gaps in the tangled vegetation, and with a bang, all the surrounding plants were blasted into fragments!
When the explosion and smoke cleared, the figure inside was revealed, protected by a white barrier.
"Phew~ It really is the Dark Continent. These plants bind with quite a lot of force. They look like ordinary plants, but in reality they're deliberately disguised as a beautiful and tempting scene to lure in prey, huh?"
Roy swept his gaze around and saw that the plants he had blasted apart were already stirring again, while the other flowers and grasses also began growing wildly.
"Do you really have to try to wipe me out completely? Then I won't be polite either~!"
Roy raised his hand, and a fiery red sphere of light appeared in front of him.
"Flame Spray Bullet!"
When dealing with plants, fire was the best counter. This move he had acquired from King Frieza turned out to be quite useful at a moment like this.
In an instant, blazing flames ignited across the entire area. What had looked like a fairy-tale landscape a moment ago turned into a flaming inferno!
"Flame Burst Wave!"
This was another of King Frieza's techniques, directly detonating every pillar of fire on the field.
Bang!
An explosion rang out. A gust of wind swept through, the smoke dispersed, and what remained was bare ground and scorched soil.
All of those annoying plants had been burned clean away by Roy.
Actually, if it weren't for the fact that these plants could regenerate instantly, Roy really would have wanted to bring back some plant specimens for study. After all, anything from the Dark Continent was bound to have some unusual value.
In truth, because the barrier had blocked out the smell, Roy had not noticed that the land had been filled with a strange fragrance released by those flowers. If an ordinary person had smelled it, their whole body would have immediately gone limp, their limbs weak and powerless, and they would have collapsed to the ground, left completely at the mercy of those plants—something like a powerful paralytic incense from an old fantasy tale.
But now that those plants had been burned clean away, the fragrance naturally disappeared as well, and Roy turned his attention to the small waterfall and the lake.
After all, a waterfall made of water that shone in nine colors was extremely eye-catching.
Roy first collected some soil and some fragments of rock that had fallen from the cliff, then walked to the lakeside.
He tossed a stone directly into the lake, but strangely, when it struck the surface, it did not create even the slightest splash. It simply sank straight down.
That was the charm of the Dark Continent. Dangerous as it was, people still rushed in one after another, simply because they wanted to explore these unknown things.
Roy thought for a moment, then directly condensed a lump of aura and threw it into the lake.
This time, unlike the stone, the surface immediately burst upward in a huge column of water.
"So using aura makes it react?"
A trace of understanding flashed through Roy's eyes. Then he took out a large water cup and filled it with quite a bit of this multicolored lake water.
And the moment Roy filled a full cup, he sharply sensed that a lot of aura had begun to appear at the bottom of the lake!
"Did they come over from somewhere else only after I drew the water, because they weren't in the lake before?"
Roy had definitely not sensed the presence of any aura in the lake earlier, so the creatures appearing now were most likely coming from some cave connected to the lake.
After all, even after the waterfall's water kept pouring into the lake, the water level neither rose nor fell, which meant there had to be a passage or cave opening connected to some other place at the bottom.
"If there are creatures in the water, then there must be an opening at the bottom of the lake!"
Suddenly, a column of water shot out from the lake surface at extreme speed, flying straight toward Roy.
But Roy had already been prepared, and he easily dodged it.
"So it really is a fish!"
At the instant the water column shot out, Roy saw it clearly. It was a slender fish. Judging by its size alone, it was about the same size as a saury.
However, completely unlike a saury, this fish had bizarre coloration and incomparably sharp teeth!
This kind of fish had only two colors on its body, but they were split across its two sides.
Its underside was pure white like snow, while its back was black like ink. Even its eyes were clearly divided into black and white!
"What a strange fish!"
With a backhanded grab, Roy caught the fish in his hand.
If Roy himself were not so powerful, forget catching the fish—he probably would not even have been able to track it.
But this fish had extraordinary vitality. Even while pinned in Roy's grasp, it kept thrashing violently.
"You've got some strength!"
Feeling the power of the fish in his hand, Roy could not help tightening his grip slightly.
The fish's thrashing strength was astonishing, almost on the level of some highly trained Nen users!
Then, as though it had triggered a chain reaction, dozens of water columns shot out from the surface of the lake, all of them attacking Roy!
