Chapter 34: Kurenai: Let Me Check for You (Happy New Year)
When Kurenai Yuhi called out to Kakashi, everyone present looked over curiously.
"...Kakashi, it's been a long time since the few of us have gathered. Do you want to go grab a meal together?"
Kurenai Yuhi felt some pressure under everyone's expectant gazes, but clearly, she couldn't meet their expectations.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, everyone immediately showed disappointed expressions. Was there something that couldn't be asked right here? They wanted to satisfy their curiosity!
"Let's go." Kakashi didn't refuse and nodded for her to lead the way.
Before long, Kurenai Yuhi, Kakashi, and Asuma arrived at a restaurant and chose a private room.
Inside the room, after the three sat down, they began staring at each other, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward for a moment.
Kurenai Yuhi winked at Asuma, wanting him to initiate the conversation about Kakashi's situation, thinking that since they were both guys before, it wouldn't be as awkward for them to talk.
But Asuma winked back at Kurenai Yuhi, wanting her to be the one to ask. After all, they were both girls now, so discussing such matters shouldn't be as awkward.
Unfortunately, Guy wasn't in the Village today. Otherwise, with that thick-skinned fellow around, they wouldn't have to be so conflicted.
Both Kurenai Yuhi and Asuma couldn't help but think of Guy at this moment.
"Um, Kakashi, are you... alright?"
In the end, it was Asuma who spoke first, breaking the silent atmosphere.
"Not good," Kakashi replied speechlessly. They had been blinking at each other since they arrived without even ordering food, all while wearing awkward expressions and stealing glances at her. It would be a miracle if she were alright!
"Ah?"
Hearing this, Asuma subconsciously opened his mouth, unsure of how to react for a moment, and then looked to Kurenai Yuhi with a pleading gaze.
In response, Kurenai Yuhi also showed an even more awkward expression, not knowing what to say.
In her heart, she couldn't help but complain about Asuma. What kind of question was that? Her gender had changed; it would be weird if she were fine. He should have asked what happened at the time, and then everyone could analyze it together to see if there was a solution, and finally, they should have comforted her!
"That... Kakashi... it's okay. Actually, being a girl is quite nice. Look at me, I'm quite happy every day, so don't be sad!"
As soon as Kurenai Yuhi spoke, she was so nervous she didn't know what she was saying; she was just instinctively trying every way to comfort Kakashi!
"Ah, Kurenai is right!" Asuma didn't catch exactly what Kurenai said either, but he subconsciously nodded in agreement.
Kakashi found their reactions somewhat amusing, but she knew they were concerned about her, so she spoke calmly, "What has already happened cannot be changed no matter what. I've already gotten used to it."
She was indicating that she wouldn't be sad and there was no need to worry.
"..."
Hearing her reply, Kurenai Yuhi and Asuma fell silent. Things that have happened cannot be changed, so just accept them calmly. Without having experienced much suffering, it would be very difficult to maintain such a mindset!
True! Kakashi lost her father at a young age, her companion sacrificed himself to protect her, later another companion died by her hand for the sake of Konoha, and finally, she even lost her teacher and her teacher's wife.
Compared to her previous experiences, indeed, turning into a girl might be trivial to Kakashi!
However, Asuma and Kurenai Yuhi couldn't help but feel sad for Kakashi. It felt like she had been experiencing hardships since she was a child; anyone else would have probably broken down long ago!
"Yeah! It's okay, Kakashi. You still have Guy, you have us, and you have your students. You can ask us for help with anything!" Kurenai Yuhi sighed in her heart, then forced a smile and spoke in a gentle tone.
"Yeah, right. Kurenai has been a girl for over twenty years now. Kakashi, if there's anything you don't understand, you can ask her!" Asuma nodded and also offered words of comfort. It was only after the words left his mouth that he realized what he had just said, and his face instantly turned red.
Kurenai Yuhi thought Asuma was right, so she nodded. "You can come to me with any questions you don't understand. How about you come to my house later, and I'll teach you some physiological knowledge for girls?"
"That... that won't be necessary!"
Kakashi's face turned slightly red as she replied somewhat embarrassedly. As for physiological knowledge, she naturally knew about it.
"Not just that, choosing underwear for girls is also very important. Let me check for you later, take some measurements, and help you choose the right ones!"
Seeing that Kakashi didn't seem to take it seriously, Kurenai Yuhi immediately stood up and leaned in front of her, her eyes scanning her body up and down as if trying to see if she was wearing the right clothes.
But obviously, with Kakashi wearing the Jonin vest, nothing could be seen.
"I... I certainly know that. The ones I chose are already very well-fitted!" Seeing this, Kakashi's body immediately leaned back, seemingly trying to get away from Kurenai.
"What do you know about being well-fitted? Let me see first." As Kurenai Yuhi spoke, she raised both hands and pressed them onto Kakashi's shoulders, since the other person would have fallen to the floor if she leaned back any further.
"...Cough, cough~"
To the side, Asuma's old face turned red. Was this something he could watch for free?
"Let's go to my house later—actually, let's go to your house to take a look." Hearing Asuma's coughing, Kurenai Yuhi realized there was another person here. She withdrew her hands and took a step back to return to her seat.
"No, there's no need, right?" Kakashi hurriedly refused.
"It's fine. Now that we are both girls, you don't need to feel embarrassed." Kurenai Yuhi didn't think there was anything wrong with checking the body of Kakashi, who was now a girl.
But Kakashi didn't think so. Whether male or female, having one's body looked at by someone of the same or opposite sex would be very strange!
If she had known this would happen, she shouldn't have agreed to come to the gathering just now. Instead of getting a free meal, she was about to be...
