Keifer's POV
The moment the racers lined up—
the atmosphere changed.
Completely.
The loud jokes.
The excitement.
The chaotic energy.
Everything disappeared beneath something heavier.
Danger.
Even the air felt tense now.
The road ahead stretched deep into the city night:
narrow streets
sharp downhill curves
unfinished side rails
dark tunnels
dangerous turns
And somehow…
these people were about to race through it at terrifying speeds.
Felix stared at the track.
"…This is actually insane."
Ci-N nodded immediately. "I suddenly miss school."
Yuri crossed his arms tightly. "This shouldn't even be legal."
"It's definitely not legal," David replied.
Luke looked stressed beside us.
"Tonight's track is bad."
Jeff rubbed his face nervously. "Very bad."
Rory frowned. "How bad?"
Jeff pointed toward the road.
"There's a downhill blind turn near the bridge."
Endrix blinked. "That sounds survivable."
"There's no railing."
"…NEVERMIND."
Meanwhile…
Jay stood beside her motorcycle silently.
Helmet on.
Gloves tightened.
Completely still.
No joking.
No smiling.
MJ had completely taken over now.
Raze smirked from his motorcycle nearby.
"You backing out yet?"
Jay slowly looked toward him.
Even from behind the helmet…
her stare felt cold.
"Start praying instead."
The crowd exploded.
Felix grabbed my arm violently. "SHE TALKS LIKE AN ACTION MOVIE."
I barely heard him.
Because my eyes stayed on Jay.
Something about this felt wrong.
Dangerous.
Too dangerous.
Then—
A girl stepped forward holding the race flag.
"THREE!"
Engines roared violently.
"TWO!"
The ground practically vibrated.
"ONE!"
The flag dropped.
And the racers SHOT FORWARD.
The crowd screamed instantly.
The motorcycles disappeared down the road almost immediately.
Fast.
Too fast.
Ci-N's jaw dropped. "WHAT THE HELL?!"
Felix pointed dramatically. "THEY'RE FLYING."
I stared ahead silently.
Jay's black motorcycle cut through traffic like a shadow.
Sharp turns.
Perfect movement.
No hesitation.
She overtook two racers within seconds.
Luke groaned beside me. "She's already driving like a psychopath."
Jeff looked stressed. "She's trying to dominate early."
Rory blinked rapidly. "How are they not crashing?"
The racers entered the first downhill curve.
One wrong move there…
and they'd fly straight into concrete barriers.
Jay accelerated.
Instead of slowing down.
My chest tightened immediately.
"She's too fast," I muttered.
Even Raze struggled to keep up with her.
The crowd screamed wildly.
"MJ!" "MJ!" "MJ!"
Then suddenly—
Jay drifted around the curve.
Dangerously close to the edge.
SPARKS flew from her bike.
Felix screamed. "SHE ALMOST DIED."
Ci-N covered his face. "I can't watch this."
But I couldn't look away.
Because somehow…
Jay looked completely calm.
Like danger didn't scare her anymore.
The racers disappeared into the tunnel section.
Only the roaring engines echoed now.
Then several screens around the race route lit up with live camera footage.
And suddenly everyone saw it.
The bridge section.
My stomach dropped immediately.
No rails.
Wet road.
Sharp curve ahead.
Even the crowd became quieter.
Luke cursed under his breath. "…Not this turn."
Jay was leading now.
Barely ahead of Raze.
Rain had started lightly.
Not enough to stop the race.
But enough to make the road slippery.
Jeff looked pale. "She needs to slow down."
She didn't.
Of course she didn't.
Jay accelerated.
Straight toward the curve.
"She's insane," Yuri muttered.
Then suddenly—
another racer behind them lost control.
Everything happened too fast.
The motorcycle skidded violently.
Metal scraped across the road.
SPARKS exploded everywhere.
The fallen bike SLID directly toward Jay's lane.
The crowd screamed.
Someone shouted: "MJ MOVE!"
My heart stopped.
Jay had two choices.
Brake hard…
or crash.
For one terrifying second…
it genuinely looked like she wouldn't make it.
Then—
Jay leaned the motorcycle sideways so sharply it almost touched the ground.
The bike DRIFTED through the smallest gap imaginable.
The tires screeched violently.
SPARKS exploded beneath her motorcycle.
The edge of her bike nearly clipped the sliding racer.
One wrong inch—
and she would've flown straight off the bridge.
"JAY!" I shouted before I could stop myself.
The crowd screamed.
Felix looked traumatized. "SHE SHOULD BE DEAD."
Ci-N was literally holding Rory. "I SAW MY ANCESTORS."
Even Luke looked shaken now.
Jeff whispered softly, "…That idiot…"
But Jay never slowed down.
Not once.
She straightened the bike.
Then accelerated AGAIN.
Faster.
Like the near crash had only woken her up more.
The crowd erupted violently.
"MJ!" "MJ!" "MJ!"
Raze tried catching up.
Failed.
Jay took the final downhill turn perfectly.
Cold.
Precise.
Fearless.
Then—
she crossed the finish line first.
The crowd exploded.
People screamed wildly.
Fireworks shot into the air.
"MJ WON!" "UNDEFEATED!" "MJ!"
But I barely heard any of it.
Because my heart was still racing from what almost happened.
Jay slowly removed her helmet.
Breathing heavily.
Hair messy from the wind.
And then—
through the screaming crowd…
her eyes searched.
Until they landed on me.
Silence.
For one strange second…
everything else disappeared.
Then she smiled slightly.
Tiny.
Tired.
Alive.
And suddenly…
I realized how close she had come to dying tonight.
The thought made my chest feel tight.
Painfully tight.
