Chapter 12 - Arion's book, no wait-is it Ace's?

The private book was the book containing all his secrets. From the fact he had a blessed bonus to his first name to his death and rebirth, to him unlocking his Soul Runes again to his new bonus.

The reason he wrote all this with no worries of his secret was simply the second ability of the greater ability. While the first was exactly what the description said, the second was quite interesting.

[Eternal]

This ability can not be stolen and can only be given.

That was quite a surprise, but again even abilities had their exceptions it seemed.

He sighed and continued writing in the book.

A name, is very weird. I don't know why or what is wrong with it but ever since I have unlocked the uses of Blessed Insight, I get this feeling that everything no matter how straightforward it is, has a reason.

Names too are just like that, it might be anything but I have a feeling that names are more than simple names. If not why would there be a description?

Either way, as I was saying there are three types of skills. Manifest, Sorcery… and something called Utility. The last one? Haven't seen it. Not even once.

Manifest is simple, these are the most common type of skills, these are the armour and weapon type skills. There is an unlimited number of skills one can have, unlike what I thought, it is not given when one has evolved.

No, skills can come at any point, its just that evolving is a sure point of receiving a skill. Still, from what I found out-Not all armour and weapons are useful, some skills are meant useless. Though as for me, I think only time can tell.

Second is Sorcery, short and simple-these are like the skills of Ray, not like the Flame bow or that damned sword of his, no that is manifest skill. Sorcery is the flame bullets and flame touch, and my very own needle. Though it can also be considered a Manifest too, so I'm not sure.

And finally the last type of skill is Utility. I won't write anything on this topic. I mean how can you write about something you don't even know.

Arion sighed, and got up-it was time to eat. Tomorrow he had to go to his hometown to meet his family after all. He did not know how much things have changed there. Still, that was an important event. It was almost his birthday too.

It would be his birthday in three days, and the fact that he had unlocked just days before his birthday was quite...staged? Why is it that in both of his lives he had unlocked his Runes at sixteen years old.

As Ace, in the ship...he had unlocked it days after turning sixteen and as Arion, he had unlocked days before turning sixteen.

'Coincidence, yeah I don't believe that.'

In the end though, he sighed. Ever since unlocking his runes, he had gone back on being a questioner.

'Is this supposed to be some side effect?' He thought grimly.

That night, he strangely felt lonely...It was weird, in both his life, he was isolated. His only friends were Ray and Ariel, and that was also out of necessity.

In this life too, he had no friends. That did not make him feel lonely...well until today. Now, he felt suddenly so lonely. He sighed, it was tough being a loner.

'Now then...' He thought cleaning his dishes, he had already packed all things needed for the week long return, and well it was not much. Just his Magic Communicator, a few clothes and some food-enough to last his journey.

He would be travelling in something called Magic Train.

Once again, he lingered thinking of the odd name. Train was a name common in his world but magic train...in this world. Just what was the connection between his old and new worlds?

Sadly he couldn't ask anyone, not only would they see him as crazy but also they would know nothing. He had to find out himself.

Turning back to his book, he sighed and wrote again. This time, he seemed to open another part of the book. The book was endless but still it was a book, and as a book the first part was the part he had written minutes ago,

It contained all his knowledge, and the second part would be his journey.

Like I said, I was not able to find anything special yet. Neither did I find some useful information about the guy with the Blessed bonus half a millennium ago. I am going to my hometown, back to my family.

Only for a week, so I don't think there would be anything difficult. If they do ask about my bonus, it would be a problem yes-I will try my best to hide it but in case not possible I can still lie.

But again, I'll just say I don't want to share, and everything will be alright...hopefully. I'll be back unscathed.

The next day arrived sooner than he expected, and at the afternoon, he left for the magic train...

'What a hot day...' He thought. He was currently waiting in the pathway waiting for the signal to turn green.

'So they can't copy all the cool things from my world but somehow managed to make a traffic signal, or was it traffic pole?'

"Whatever." He muttered under his breath, finally when the light turned green, he walked past the road.

Arion stepped onto the roadside, the faint hum of the city wrapping around him.

The sun hung high, merciless and heavy, pressing down on everything it touched. Even the air felt sluggish, as if reluctant to move.

He exhaled slowly.

'What a bothersome day…'

The path to the station wasn't far. Just a straight road, a turn, and then the long stretch toward the Magic Train terminal.

He didn't turn immediately. There were always people on the road.

But something felt…off.

Not dangerous. Just…different.

His gaze shifted slightly.

And then he saw her. Walking beside him—close enough to be noticed, far enough to be a stranger—was a girl.

Silver hair. Like threads of moonlight cascading down her back, catching the sun in a way that felt almost unnatural.

For a moment, he thought that the girl walking beside him was the Moon Goddess but quickly dismissed the thought.

The girl beside him could never compare to the divine beauty of that witch of a goddess. And moreover, he knew this girl.

The girl with glistening silver hair which reached till her upper back and equally appealing violet eyes which had a faint white glow in them. At least there was a glow to him.

Arion's steps slowed, almost imperceptibly.

'…Strange.'

This particular girl's name was Clara...Clara Crystal.

She was the best student of the academy.

Arion's brain went over questions again, 'Why is she beside me?' was the first and the most important question, especially due to the fact that...He was sent to this school to keep an eye on her.

Arion did not really understand what his dad meant by keeping an eye on her but he didn't know, and didn't care, and didn't do it either.

Why would he stalk a girl, he wasn't a pervert, well maybe not a big one but he wasn't going to follow a girl around, especially Clara.

Clara was a mystery, she was from the four great clans of the kingdom. The Crystal...

Arion was also from a noble clan, Brook—it was just a normal surname until his grandfather decided to break it and became one of the most powerful persons in the kingdom's history, and then he took a normal family to a noble one before dying—the way he died, Arion didn't know.

And then his clan just grew slowly, the Brooks were not feared, were not a powerhouse, and neither did they have the powers of the other noble clans but they had money, and they had one person.

Darius Brook—his father. The leader of the Brooks.

"You must be Arion, am I correct?" Clara asked, walking beside him and staring at him as if they were childhood friends going shopping or on a trip...but well, they weren't. And even though she did look at him like a childhood friend, her aloof expression didn't change.

"You are Clara..." Arion replied calmly, there was not much to worry was there? No matter how strong she was, she couldn't defeat him.

His [Blessed By Swords] bonus gave him enough insight to understand how to wield a sword even though it took time. And [Blood Manipulation] wouldn't let him bleed, that was enough to at least escape.

But again, there was not much to worry, what were the chances of meeting the academy's number one student, who also had some mysterious connection to his clan—well they were low but not zero.

"May I ask where you are going? You may decline, of course."

"Then I'll decline."

Clara's gaze lingered on him for a moment—calm, unreadable. Not offended, not surprised. Just…observing.

'Did I say something wrong?' Arion wondered.

"I'm heading to my hometown," he added after a brief pause. "I assume you already know where that is."

"I do," Clara replied simply. "I'll be going there as well."

Arion glanced at her, faintly puzzled, before looking ahead again. It didn't concern him. As long as he wasn't dragged into whatever involved the great clans, he had no reason to care.

That didn't mean his path would be peaceful.

There were still too many things left unresolved—Ray, Ariel… his return to his original world… the truth behind the Moon Goddess… that man…

…and finally—

'Destroy the sun.'

"Why?" Arion asked. "Do you have business with the Brooks?"

Clara's eyes shifted to him. There was a subtle change this time—something colder beneath the surface.

"I do," she said. "Though not in the way you're implying."

"Not in the way I'm implying? How do you know what I'm implying? You can ignore this question of course."

She was silent for a moment and then spoke ignoring the question.

Her voice remained composed, refined—yet there was a faint edge to it. Not hostility. Not quite.

"More precisely, I intend to meet your father."

She held his gaze for a second longer than necessary, then looked ahead, effectively ending the conversation.

Arion hesitated for half a breath.

"...May I ask why?"

She did not respond as if she didn't even know he existed.

'So that's how it is.'

By the time they reached the station, the quiet between them had settled into something almost natural. Even more so when they discovered they were boarding the same train.

And, of course, seated beside each other.

'How convenient.' Arion thought dryly. 'Almost suspicious. But ah! It must be coincidence.' this time, his thoughts carried a strange hint of sarcasm.

"I assume you've recently unlocked your Soul Rune," Clara said once they were seated.

"I have." He said flatly and gazed out through the window.

Fields rolled past in endless waves of green, shifting gently under the weight of the wind. Tall grasses bent and rose again, like something alive—breathing, bowing, enduring. Here and there, lone trees stood rooted in quiet defiance, their shadows spilling long across the earth.

'…Peaceful.'

A narrow lake slipped into view, its surface smooth as glass, catching the light of the sun in fractured glimmers. For a moment, it looked almost unreal—like a painted scene rather than something that truly existed.

The train moved on, and the lake drifted away.

Replaced by another.

And another.

An almost eerie sense of melancholy and regret crept onto his heart, his eyes grew somber and almost wet at the sides. He blinked once and the liquid in his eye just increased.

He wiped the coming tears and sighed, looking back at the beautiful scenery.

At the beautiful lakes.

Each one different. Some bordered by stone, others swallowed by wild growth, their edges uneven, untouched. A few reflected the sky so perfectly that it felt as though the world had split in two—one above, one below.

Arion's eyes lingered.

'Strange…'

In his past life, movement had always meant noise. Engines roaring, metal grinding, people talking—everything layered, chaotic. Even silence had never truly been silent.

But here…

There was only the low, steady hum of the train. Soft. Distant. Almost ignorable.

'Have I truly adapted to this world?' He thought grimly.

"How long until arrival?" She suddenly asked.

"I didn't check," Arion replied. "Didn't feel like it."

Clara didn't react. She simply faced forward, her expression as still as ever—like a statue carved from something far too perfect to be human.

And just as distant.

And so he remained on his way back to Stonehaven...With a beautiful princess by his side.
