The Toads Explained: If he wanted to ascend to Heaven, Anbao had to sleep—truly fall asleep. As for becoming a god, it depended on how much knowledge he had left in the human world and in Hell.
Anbao felt that in his current state, there was no way he could fall asleep.
The Toads told him not to worry. While he slept, the emotion managers would clear out the thoughts in his cerebral cortex; it wouldn't take long for him to drift off. As for the knowledge he had left in the human world and in Hell, it was already being spread and reinforced through the students in Hell, through books, and through the children of the emotion managers.
That night, Anbao began to sleep. At first, he heard many voices murmuring around him—some saying it was too easy to become a god, why not let them take his place; others asking what would happen to his parents once he became a god. Then, from the room next door, he heard a voice speaking in sleep. It was his parents' voices from the human world, covering for him:
"He was born to become a god. There's no stopping it. If he's not here, it means he's gone back to take his rightful place; if he stayed here, there'd be nothing left for him to do. We should be happy for him. Besides, the money he's given us is more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of our lives."
Their voices chased away all the other noise. Then, one voice cut through—louder than the rest. Over and over, it shouted at the others: "Get lost!" It was the emotion manager who had once seen Anbao take his mother to the market. Finally, with that roar, all the voices were silenced.
Anbao's cerebral cortex began to ease. The world fell completely quiet.
He drifted deeper and deeper into sleep.
In his dream, a group of people stood before him and said, "Thank you." The Toads beside him explained softly, "These are your emotion managers. You taught their children so much."
He dreamed of his parents in Heaven, who said, "We've been waiting for you, son."
His soul left his body and rose to Heaven. His physical form dissolved into materials, reshaping into a new divine body.
He heard the chorus of cicadas. When he woke, Chuzhi, the creator god of this world, declared that Anbao had become the God of Consensus of Heaven, granted the power to transmit thoughts.
