Chapter 122 - 122. The Artificial Ten-Tails Project

'Ahem, ahem...'

These questions might not have been considered by the original manga author or the TV animation team.

But when this world became a real world, the origins of everything inevitably had to follow a coherent logic.

The God Tree Ten-Tails and the Ten-Tails Divine Tree—though two aspects of the same entity, they represent distinct forms of the same object.

Specifically, the plant form of the God Tree and the animal form of the Ten-Tails.

One embodies plunder—Yang!

Through a photosynthetic process countless times more rapacious than that of ordinary plants, it devours every resource and energy of the planet.

The other embodies destruction—Yin!

After draining the planet's resources dry, the God Tree transforms into the Ten-Tails, using its supreme eye to draw all living beings into the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Turning them into sustenance, it extinguishes the last embers of hope on the planet.

The Yin power, fueled by spiritual energy governing imagination, creates form from nothingness!

Sasuke silently recalled all his memories from his previous life concerning the Hoshigakure arc.

The Mysterious Peacock Method, a secret technique developed from a meteorite, could amplify Chakra activity to its limit, allowing users to materialize various Chakra forms for combat.

Chakra's form transformation wasn't exclusive to Yin Release users, but Yin Release, with its ability to create form from nothingness, was uniquely suited for manipulating such transformations.

Examples included the Uchiha Clan's Susanoo and Kurama Yakumo's ability to switch between reality and illusion.

When the final boss, Akahoshi, fused with the meteorite, his pupils changed color, his purple hair turned white, and his temperament became violently erratic and crazed.

Even if this meteorite didn't originate from the Ten-Tails, its connection to Yin Release power was undeniable.

"I'll have to visit the Hoshigakure someday."

Sasuke hadn't originally planned for such a detour.

However, the unexpected discovery of the God Tree's remnants in Takigakure had piqued his interest in the Hoshigakure's meteorite.

If that meteorite truly originated from the Ten-Tails...

Sasuke wouldn't hesitate to add a new project to his plans:

The Artificial Ten-Tails Project!

As he spoke, a crimson glint flashed across Sasuke's usually placid eyes.

For someone who habitually withdrew into cold indifference when alone, the near-unconscious activation of his Sharingan clearly betrayed his intense excitement about implementing this new project.

Pulling his thoughts back, Sasuke refocused his gaze on the Hero's Water in his hand.

"A normal human body can't withstand the Hero's Water, but what about a Sage Body?"

With this in mind, Sasuke extracted a small amount of Yamato's cells and mixed them with the Hero's Water, then observed the mixture under a microscope.

As soon as the two combined, a peculiar reaction occurred.

Yamato's blood instantly became incredibly viscous and heavy, emitting a pungent, blood-tinged aroma reminiscent of rotting wood that permeated the spacious underground chamber, stinging Sasuke's nostrils.

Under the microscope, the previously stable Yamato Cells suddenly became violently agitated, frenzied, and hysterical, as if they had encountered their greatest desire—like a demon sighting the freshest, most delectable human blood.

Sweet, savory, intoxicating!

They surged toward the Hero's Water like a tidal wave, sucking, desperately sucking!

Even though they were merely a mass of cells, they seemed to possess their own consciousness, straining with such ferocity, opening their bloodthirsty mouths to devour every drop.

'Heh heh heh...'

Seeing this, Sasuke's lips curled into a sinister smirk.

Another day had passed!

The setting sun slowly sank behind the mountains, painting the sky with crimson hues. Wisps of white clouds drifted across the graying twilight, their forms barely visible through the fading light.

"It's already evening?"

Lost in his experiments, Sasuke glanced up at the clock and realized with a start.

"I've been experimenting all day without realizing it."

With Sasuke's current physical condition, he could go days without sleep or rest without suffering significant consequences. A single day of continuous experimentation posed no real challenge to him.

'It's almost time for Kakashi's announcement.'

Kakashi had awakened several days prior. After recuperating, he summoned Team Seven for a dinner gathering this evening to announce important news.

The thought had barely crossed Sasuke's mind when he stowed the Hero's Water and Yamato Cells into his Storage Scroll and began cleaning up the laboratory.

Any equipment that had come into contact with either substance was utterly destroyed, ensuring not a trace remained.

For Sasuke, who possessed vast wealth, replacing any damaged equipment was a trivial matter.

At Konoha Barbecue Restaurant, the entire Team Seven gathered. After reviewing their previous mission, Kakashi praised the trio briefly before announcing the upcoming Chūnin Exams.

"Teacher Kakashi, what's up?"

After the gathering, Sakura and Naruto left separately, but Kakashi secretly summoned Sasuke to a secluded location.

"You performed admirably on this mission, Sasuke. Your strength has already surpassed mine."

"As your teacher, I'm ashamed to admit there's nothing more I can teach you."

A hint of melancholy crossed Kakashi's face. Before Sasuke could respond, he handed him a scroll.

"You awakened your Sharingan in the Land of Waves earlier. This scroll contains my personal insights on Sharingan training. Take it for now."

"Thank you, Teacher Kakashi," Sasuke said solemnly, accepting the scroll. Although he had already awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, rendering the scroll largely useless to him, he appreciated Kakashi's good intentions.

"During the battle, you arrived late. You probably didn't know I activated the Mangekyō Sharingan!"

After a moment's pause, Kakashi gently lifted his forehead protector, revealing the crimson, three-pronged shuriken-shaped Mangekyō Sharingan beneath.

"Mangekyō Sharingan?!"

Sasuke froze, then his gaze narrowed, fixating intently on Kakashi's left eye.

"Correct! The Mangekyō Sharingan. As an Uchiha, you should know at least a little about it."

Kakashi lowered his gaze, touching his left eye with a wistful look.

"I'm not entirely sure where the Mangekyō Sharingan comes from, nor do I know the exact method of awakening it. But I have a vague feeling that this isn't the first time I've activated it—that I might have awakened it long ago."

In truth, Kakashi knew the truth, but the condition for awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan was so cruel that he couldn't bring himself to tell his disciple.

During the time he lay unconscious, the image that haunted his mind wasn't the final moment when Kakuzu was about to kill him.

Instead, it was the recurring scene of him using the Chidori to kill that gentle and kind-hearted girl, over and over again.

When Kakashi finally awoke, he realized that his Mangekyō Sharingan had actually awakened long ago, but had remained dormant.

"Perhaps it was triggered by overwhelming grief," Sasuke said after a moment of silence.

"Hmm?"

Kakashi was taken aback, surprised that Sasuke knew.

"The Sharingan is called the Eye that Reflects the Heart. When subjected to intense emotional trauma, such as witnessing the death of a deeply loved one, it awakens and evolves. Teacher Kakashi's Mangekyō Sharingan likely followed this pattern, even if you yourself didn't realize it."

Sasuke lowered his eyelids slightly, a hint of gloom crossing his face as his eyes shifted to a crimson hue.

"Actually, I awakened my Sharingan that night too, though not the Mangekyō. It only reappeared during my life-or-death battle with Kurosuki Raiga, triggered by the adrenaline of survival."

Hearing this, Kakashi understood. He finally realized why Sasuke's Sharingan had immediately manifested as three-tomoe upon awakening.

Like himself, Sasuke had already awakened his Sharingan long ago, but just as Kakashi couldn't face the memory of killing Rin, Sasuke couldn't confront the gruesome deaths of his clan and the loss of his parents.

That's why they both remained unaware of their Sharingan's awakening for so long.

After a moment of silence, Kakashi's lips moved as he was about to speak, but Sasuke's calm voice cut through the air again.

"Teacher Kakashi, I know what you want to say. Don't worry."

"If the day ever comes when I need the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan, I will never become like that man."

"Power should be used to protect what's important, not destroy it in pursuit of strength. Such power is worthless to me!"

Hearing this, Kakashi's heart lightened.

He gazed at his most cherished disciple and suddenly smiled—a smile so radiant and relieved that it lit up his entire face.

"Go get some rest now. Prepare for the Chūnin Exams in a few days."
