The laughter settled into a giggle, then slowly ceased.
In a few moments, Solaris was going to see Selen fight.
It was practically settled that she was going to hell, but the organizer still wanted a layout of her abilities, or so they said.
Solaris had his own ideas as to what they were thinking, but he chose not to share them.
A small smile found its way onto Solaris's lips as he watched Selen walk out onto the arena, her long blonde hair swaying as she walked.
She had on an outfit incredibly reminiscent of the one that Solaris had seen her in the first time he saw her at the school; the only real difference was that this one wasn't covered in her own blood.
While Solaris was still smiling from the absurdity of Celer's forfeit, Ania leaned across Lucian, his face going bright red, as she whispered to Solaris.
Hearing what Ania had wispered Solaris eyes widened, and his head turned rapidly to face Ania, who had a mischievous smile on her face.
"That's... Not true!"
Solaris had heard so many odd comments and some genuinely strange things before, yet this was something he couldn't even fathom someone saying.
Ania giggled to herself, then shrugged and got off Lucian's lap. As she did, he let out a huff of air as if he had been holding his breath.
Solaris shook his head in disbelief.
The mouth on that girl is unbelievable... where did she say she was from again? Perhaps it's a cultural thing... That's right, Russia... nope, just a weird little freak, I mean, who says something like that!
Shooting Ania another disapproving glance, Solaris turned back to the arena, where the opponent of Selen had finally made his appearance.
Walking out of the arena's entrance, Solaris saw a tall, very fit man; his hair ran down his back and was white as snow, and his eyes were a shade of dark black with a lively gleam to them. His skin was pristine, with a coiling snake tattoo on his right arm and a cross on his left.
Solaris wasn't sure if the tattoos were marks or just tattoos.
He had never seen a mark of an animal before, but that didn't mean they weren't possible.
The man's clothes were light and made of an expensive-looking fabric; it was a white tunic with an embroidered edge and a belt holding it to his body. His pants appeared soft and comfortable; they were a shade of light brown. The man, strangely enough, wore no shoes or any visible armor.
However, the strangest aspect about the man wasn't the lack of battle readiness or the expensive clothes that would likely be damaged in the fight; it also wasn't the distinctive white hair. No, the oddest part of the man, Ezekiel, was the large wings protruding from his back.
The two wings were pure white and resembled a dove, or perhaps an angel.
As Solaris looked over the man, he felt a small wave of fear press him down; he wasn't sure what it was, possibly his resemblance to a bird, which Solaris was not a big fan of. But there was something Solaris found off about the man, yet he couldn't put his finger on what it was, so he, for the time being, decided to ignore it.
Instead, he simply readied himself for an entertaining fight.
Solaris had never seen Selen fight before, or at least not up close; the only time he'd seen her do anything involving fighting was when Ember went crazy after being cut.
So this was the first time he was to see her fight.
As the man made his way to the starting point, Selen raised her arms to her head and gathered her hair into a bun, then, using some ice, she froze a ring around it to hold it in place.
As she brought her arm down, a claw looking like that of a demon formed over her hand; it was silver in color and had a slight shine to it. Then in the same moment a layer of pure ice covered it, Then a suit of armour made of the same ice covered her body in a suit of armor, perfectly fitted to her.
While Selen did this, the announcer spoke.
"FOR THE SECOND MATCH OF ROUND TWO, WE HAVE SLAYER SELEN, THE ICE SAINT, AGAINST ELITE CLEANER EZEIKEL, THE ANGEL OF LIGHT!!! ARE YOU TWO READY?!!??"
Selen nodded, and the angel removed his finger from his ear and looked up at the box where the announcer was stationed, then rolled his eyes and motioned for the announcer to continue.
"... WELL THEN FIGHT!!!!"
The two didn't move. Selen looked at the angel with an aloof expression, then mildly tilted her head. So slightly that no one noticed.
The man was standing at the starting point, not moving. After a moment, he raised his hand and scratched his cheek, then his chin, then his neck.
Selene's fighting style was much better on defence, yet it appeared the angel was much the same, so she had to change it up.
Selen leaned slightly forward and then launched herself with two pillars of ice.
As she flew through the air, she collapsed her claw into a point and thrust it forwards.
As she landed, she looked up and realized her attack had landed.
And her hand was plunged into the angel's chest.
Ezekiel took a moment, then looked down at the girl who had just pierced his chest.
It took another moment before the man did anything; he didn't even breathe or blink. He just stood motionless, then, after a moment, he raised his arm.
Selen saw this and dashed back, not wanting to take the tall man's attack.
Yet he didn't swing; his arm simply moved to the hole in his chest, and then, as he examined the blood, he sighed and reached up.
His hand played in the setting sun for a moment, then he grabbed the light.
And tore it from the sky and slammed it into his chest cavity; after a moment, the hole started to glow, then a few tendrils of light began to weave over themselves and cover the hole.
Selen watched silently from a distance as the hole closed up, then the light faded, and the hole was gone.
