Penny's POV
My phone vibrated against the coffee table as I finished tidying the apartment, my mind still reeling from last night's conversation with Roamer. That phone call had been electric in ways I hadn't expected. Every time I replayed his voice in my head, the intimate words we'd exchanged, butterflies erupted in my stomach and heat spread through my chest.
I grabbed my phone and found his message waiting for me. My pulse quickened as I read his response to my question from the night before.
[Maybe the mistake isn't trying to reconnect... maybe the real mistake is thinking fun and something serious can't coexist. Isn't that what makes life worth living? Last night was incredible fun... and I can't get it out of my head. But I also can't stop wondering what it would feel like to wake up next to you every morning, not just for the thrill]
