Chapter 112: Cleaning Up
Caesar's eyes narrowed as he said with a cold smile, "You're very honest."
He hadn't even applied pressure yet, and they'd already spilled so quickly.
Toby laughed dryly and looked around at the several people standing nearby. Each was broad-shouldered and tall, holding their guns in standard positions. Just looking at their spirit and energy, you could tell they were no ordinary group.
For the sake of his life, Toby was willing to bend.
Caesar asked, "Where did you get the cattle?"
As expected. A flash of understanding passed through Toby's heart as he spoke.
"We got this stuff from Greene Farm. Heh, in this world, if you want to survive, you have to be ruthless, right?"
"It just so happened that Randall is very familiar with this area. He had a high school classmate whose family runs a farm. The farm should have a lot of food stored up, so we came to try our luck. We didn't expect..."
Toby didn't finish the rest. The situation was already very clear.
A group of starving men who didn't want to fight walkers for food naturally turned to weaker members of their own kind.
They didn't just steal food—they wanted women too.
Jimmy tried to stop them. They killed him and took everyone else away.
Caesar nodded. "Address!"
Toby's eyes rolled. The camp address was his and Dave's last card to stay alive. If he just handed it over like this—
He might die immediately.
Before Toby could think it through, Caesar snapped his fingers.
T-Dog behind him withdrew his arm. Glenn, who had been restrained the whole time, charged out with red eyes and violently tackled Toby to the ground.
"Hey, fuck!"
Glenn rode on top of Toby, his fists falling like raindrops on Toby's face. Glenn was silent like a robot, swinging his fists with all his might.
Every punch was heavy. Glenn held nothing back. The heavy fists struck Toby's face.
Instantly, Toby's face swelled up. Screams and muffled thuds came simultaneously.
Dave, lying on the ground, watched Toby getting beaten until he could only scream. He closed his eyes in fear.
From time to time he opened his eyes to glance at Glenn, his gaze fearful, as if saying: If you beat him, you won't need to beat me.
The speed of the fists slowed down. Toby was no longer screaming. His body had gone limp, his hands and feet hanging limply, his features blurred, almost unrecognizable from their original appearance.
His brow ridge, nasal bone, jaw, and facial bones all showed varying degrees of distortion. Everything was fractured, blood flowing out.
Toby was breathing weakly.
"T-Dog." Caesar called out.
T-Dog stepped forward, wrapped both arms around Glenn, and with a pull, lifted Glenn up like pulling a green onion from dry ground.
Glenn's tireless swinging fists also stopped. His knuckles were broken and torn, sticky blood dripping from his hands.
It was impossible to tell whether it was his blood or Toby's blood.
Caesar, stepping on Dave, walked forward one step and suddenly kicked out, hitting Toby's liver directly.
The tremendous force made Toby slide two or three meters horizontally across the ground. Toby's eyes widened. His fading consciousness instantly cleared. He opened his mouth wanting to cry out in pain, but no sound came out.
Caesar walked to Toby's side and used his foot to flip Toby over, placing his heel on Toby's heart. "Toby, I don't have time to chat with you."
"Now, tell me. Where are your people?"
Caesar's voice was like a cold wind mixed with the breath of death, making Toby's entire body tremble.
Toby said unclearly, "In Sharpsburg town. Inside a tavern."
Caesar nodded and stepped back. "Thanks for your honesty!"
After speaking, Caesar drew the gun from his waist and fired.
Morales likewise drew his gun and fired at Dave on the ground.
A few minutes later, only two corpses remained on the ground.
After meeting up with Merle, the group quickly headed toward Sharpsburg town.
The town was on the other side of the woods. Going directly through the woods would be faster and more convenient than returning to the farm to drive.
As for Randall and the cattle, they left them to Ford, who was staying at the farm.
After arriving at the town, everyone headed straight for the tavern.
The tavern was very conspicuous, located on the town's main road. Plus, inside was brightly lit with many candles burning.
The town tavern's layout was very simple. Usually the front was for business, the back for rest, and often there was a basement to store alcohol.
Caesar instructed Glenn, "You go in through the back door. The probability of Maggie being in the back is higher. Find Maggie as quickly as possible. Nothing else matters."
Hearing Caesar's words, Glenn nodded heavily. The fury in his eyes diminished considerably.
The fury hadn't disappeared—it had just hidden deeper, not letting emotions control his actions.
Glenn led Rick and the others in a quick run toward the back.
Caesar looked left and right at the Dixon brothers, Daryl and Merle, as well as Morales and the others. Their eyes met. Caesar's eyes held undisguised killing intent.
Caesar looked at the tavern door in front of them. Joyful voices and laughter came through the door and windows.
"Kill!"
Caesar shouted and raised his gun to fire at the tavern door.
The tavern door was made of wood, very thin. Bullets passed through easily, wood chips flying.
Merle and the others also opened fire.
Bullets hit the hinges connecting the door to the wall. The door made a creaking sound and crashed down.
The shooting didn't stop. Bullets flew rapidly into the room, hitting walls, wooden boards, furniture, and flesh.
Splashing debris, wood chips, cotton, and even blood spray.
The bullets plowed in like tilling soil. The people inside the room didn't even have time to make a sound before being filled with dense bullets and falling with eyes wide open.
Several screams rang out from inside the tavern—clearly frightened by the dense gunfire.
Caesar stepped forward, entering the house that looked like ruins.
The warm firelight that had been in the room was long extinguished. Cold moonlight poured into the tavern. Blood on the ground slowly flowed. Several corpses lay among broken furniture.
Bang, bang—several shots. Each corpse had an additional bullet hole in the head.
Putting on face masks, Caesar led the group calmly sweeping through the interior.
The front half of the tavern was for receiving guests. The back was a long corridor with several rooms on both sides.
At this moment, the door of the room closest to the front half opened a crack.
The gap was very narrow, only allowing one eye's field of vision. The man hadn't seen clearly what was outside when his eyes suddenly widened, as if he'd seen some terrifying scene.
Bang—the man fell to the ground, one eye a dark hole, blood mixed with brain matter flowing out from that opening.
There was still a woman in the room. The woman covered her mouth and nose, desperately holding back from making any sound, praying that the people outside the room would leave quickly.
The next moment, the door gap opened a little. A gun barrel poked inside.
The woman lowered her hand and opened her mouth to say, "No..."
Bang—
The woman slammed against the wall. The back of her head bloomed like a flower, sketching out a blossoming flower on the wall.
"Clear!"
Room doors were pushed open one by one. The people inside were also eliminated.
"Clear!"
"Clear!"
"Clear!"
After the gun smoke, the gunfire gradually ceased.
Merle held his gun and came before Caesar. "Boss, everything's been cleaned up."
