Chapter 1 - Death

"Tell me Noah, how do you view death? Would you look vast and far to seek it or would you wait till the time is right? I know this scenery in front of you wasn't within the prospect of the plan. I can feel the displeasure with your glare stabbing my back, but won't you humor me?" Edwin said with a strained voice as his eyes glistened in the red moonlight. He looked past the sea of blood toward the horizon as if he was stuck in his own world.

Noah sighed as he looked down at Edwin who sat there with his legs dangling off the ledge. He watched his childhood friend's blonde wavy hair breath with life by the passing wind. Time passed as Edwin was waiting for the answer with nothing but heavy breathing from behind him.

Edwin turned his head backwards toward Noah to see the black elaborate attire he wore with soft red undertones stained by the fresh blood. He would not have imagined the view he was seeing before him if it were years prior, where he still remembers the soft yet innocent smile he would receive. Softly he gave a light chuckle before standing up and dusting off the dirt on his pants.

Noah stood still not uttering a word and looked at Edwin with indifference, that was an unmistakable cold death glare that contrasted the lighthearted smile Edwin gave back. He stood still as the blood from where he walked had given a wretched stench of rot that came from behind him. It was as if time had stopped while the wind still passed them and they could feel the heartbeats of each other that were starting to shift frequencies that no longer matched.

Noah lifted his left hand toward the hilt of the sword and slowly pulled out the sword covered in blood that gave a slight glimmer in the moonlight. He pointed it right at the neck of Edwin, oddly Edwin did not falter that lighthearted smile and simply walked forward letting the sword make a light cut on his neck.

"Tell me Noah, did you think this was going to be our ending when we first laid eyes on each other or did you really think we could escape the ill fate." Edwin said as he looked at Noah's dull eyes.

Noah pulled back the sword and dropped it on the scarlet grass before turning around.

Slash.

Huh?

Noah looked down to see the sword that was dropped etched into Edwin's chest. Edwin's hand covered his and he would feel the tight grip slowly loosening. He looked up at Edwin to see the blood coming out of his mouth and feeling warm wet liquid reach his hand. Edwin's hands reached up to Noah's face and closed his eyes and started to speak.

"Sorry." Edwin said with a smile as he saw the shocked look from Noah.

Edwin lightly pushed Noah away from him and could feel the sword being pulled out from inside him. Without letting Noah catch a breath he walks backwards towards the cliff then puts his arms out to his sides before closing his eyes and giving a bright smile while he leaned backwards and fell.

Noah instinctually threw the sword to the ground before jumping after him and reached his hands out.

"Don't die, not yet!" He said as he reached Edwin while seeing the blood fly through in the air. He tightly gripped Edwin's body close knowing full well that he was already unconscious. While doing so he passionately gave him a kiss and the moonlight glimmered with the blood mist stretched below across the land covered in corpses.

Tears could be seen in Noah's eyes, and he softly hugged Edwin as he fell for what felt like eternity and darkness took over.

------------------------------------------------

"Huff".

Noah gasped for air as he awoke in an unfamiliar scene from around him. He stood still before he noticed the change of scenery, the clear blue-sky gradient from light to slightly saturated blue and birds flying in the distance. Noticing the beige wheat from his surroundings which swayed with the slight wind pushing from behind him he quickly checked his body to see if he had any wounds on him. While doing so his hair stayed with the tempo of the wind and he could hear the liveliness of the area. He felt the wind; he could hear the chirping of animals from his surroundings and the beaming light coming from the sun in the sky.

Where am I? Am I alive?

He looked down at his hands that had looked soft and rather pale and then looked back to the surrounding field of wheat before he put his hands to his chin and started to think in silence.

I can feel the mana of this planet; this is not the world I was born in. Judging from this difference, I seem to be alive, and I can feel the phantom pain from before. Did I die and reincarnate? Hm. If I came here after dying does that mean Edwin is also here?

Before he could continue another thought there came a stabbing pain within his head. He fell forward onto the soft soil underneath on his knees and started to clench his head and started to breath heavily before falling to the side still grabbing his throbbing head. The pain started to worsen and he could feel tears forming from his eyes. With his heavy breathing he tried to hold back groans but failed to do so and let his painful sounds come from his mouth. He could taste the salty saliva falling from his lips while coughing while he tried to breath. While trying to hold his thoughts together his vision started to blur and he curled up in a ball while feeling the tears falling down his face with slight coolness.

It Hurts! It Hurts! It Hurts! It Hurts!

Please help me, Edwin!

Make it stop!
