Chapter 42 - 42. Crimson Victory, Silent Proximity

The Emerald Championship: A Battle of Legends

Jasper held Seinna's soft hands as the live-streaming projection materialized before them. A bright holographic display flickered in mid-air, casting an ethereal glow on their faces. The sounds of an electrified crowd erupted from the feed, filling the air with a mixture of excitement and tension.

Ryu, having noticed the projection, abandoned his training and rushed over to Jasper, his eyes gleaming with interest. "The Emerald Championship is live?" he asked, his breath quickening with anticipation.

Jasper simply nodded, adjusting the feed for a better view.

Kai, who had initially refused to join, hesitated. He had wanted to keep training, but knowing that Jasper had already bested him in battle, his pride wouldn't allow him to sit idly by. Grumbling under his breath, he walked toward them, taking a seat on a nearby rock, his arms crossed.

Seinna remained still, her head resting on Jasper's shoulder. She wasn't particularly interested in the match, but there was a certain satisfaction in teasing Jasper with her proximity. She smirked slightly before closing her eyes, listening to the sound of the broadcast while enjoying the warmth of his presence.

The Arena: A Battlefield of Titans

The scene on the screen shifted, revealing a massive arena suspended in the middle of a planetary sky, surrounded by a shimmering golden barrier. Below, the battlefield was an enormous natural landscape—rugged mountains towered in the distance, rivers cut through the terrain like silver veins, and forests sprawled across the field, their dense canopies swaying with the force of the powerful winds.

The yellow energy barrier surrounding the battlefield pulsed with cosmic power, absorbing the sheer destructive force of planetary explosions and even the remnants of dying star collapses. It was a place where only the strongest warriors could survive, where each battle was not just a test of skill but a test of willpower and endurance.

The camera zoomed in on the championship trophy—a towering masterpiece of emerald and obsidian, suspended high above the arena. The glimmering prize was more than just a symbol of victory; it was a testament to a warrior's supremacy. Next to it, the championship title gleamed, along with the grand prize—one million star credits.

The roaring crowd could hardly contain their excitement. The name of each fighter echoed through the stadium as passionate fans voiced their support.

"ON OUR RIGHT SIDE, THE RISING STAR—TALON DARKOS!" the commentator shouted over the deafening cheers.

Talon stood with unwavering confidence, his battle stance firm. He wielded Vybron, a long, non-legendary sword that pulsed with a deep violet energy, its edge vibrating at high frequencies. It was a blade that had tasted many victories, a weapon that had carved its name into the history of championship battles.

"AND ON OUR LEFT SIDE, THE FEARSOME WARRIOR—PHI!"

Phi, standing tall, smirked at his opponent. He brandished Dread Phoenix, a crimson composite sword that pulsed with fiery energy. His fans went wild, their cheers and chants drowning out even the commentator's voice.

The stadium erupted in a frenzy of excitement. Phi! Phi! Phi! The name echoed like a war chant, sending waves of energy rippling through the arena.

The referee, an older warrior dressed in ceremonial robes, stepped forward, raising his hand for silence. The crowd settled just enough to hear his voice.

"THE RULES ARE SIMPLE!" he declared.

Disarming the opponent's sword = 1 point

Bursting the blade from its hilt = 2 points

The first blader to reach 3 points wins the championship!

The fighters nodded, understanding the conditions. This was not just a battle of strength; it was a duel of strategy, patience, and mastery.

The referee raised his hand once more and began the countdown.

"THREE…!"

The audience joined in, their voices shaking the stadium.

"TWO…!!"

Talon and Phi gripped their swords tightly, their eyes locked in intense focus.

"ONE…!!!"

BOOM!

In an instant, the warriors collided at blinding speed, their blades slashing through the air in a rapid exchange of strikes. Sparks erupted as Vybron and Dread Phoenix clashed, filling the battlefield with a symphony of metallic echoes.

Upper slash!

Lower slash!

Parry! Parry!

Counterstrike!

Violet and crimson energy swirled violently around the arena as both warriors unleashed a barrage of deadly maneuvers. Every move was executed with precision, their footwork creating craters in the battlefield. The intensity of their battle sent tremors through the terrain, shaking the very foundations of the arena.

Suddenly, Dread Phoenix began shifting—its blade separating into a segmented chain form!

Talon's eyes widened. "It's a composite sword?!" he thought, stunned. He had heard of weapons capable of shifting forms mid-battle, but he hadn't expected Phi's blade to possess such versatility.

A memory flashed through his mind—Dante, one of the strongest warriors he had ever faced, had wielded a similar shifting blade. But Talon had already defeated Dante before. If he could beat him, he could beat Phi too.

Phi grinned as his energy surged. His body became engulfed in a crimson aura, the heat radiating like a dying star. He raised his sword, the chains pulsing with power.

"PHOENIX—DREAD CRUSH!!"

With a mighty downward swing, the flaming chains of his sword came crashing down like an unrelenting meteor.

Talon refused to back down. His body ignited with violet energy, his sword radiating a powerful resonance.

"VYBRON—ETERNAL WYRM SLASH!!"

Both warriors unleashed their ultimate attacks, their weapons colliding with an earth-shattering impact.

BOOOOM!!!

A blinding explosion tore through the battlefield. The very mountains shook, rivers split apart, and the terrain crumbled under the immense force of their clash. The shockwave would have obliterated an entire continent, but the golden barrier absorbed the impact, leaving only the battlefield devastated.

As the smoke cleared, Talon stood, readying himself for another assault. He took a deep breath, but before he could act—

Phi's grin widened. His energy flared even brighter, and without hesitation, he roared:

"PHOENIX—DREAD CANNON!!"

A blinding blast of crimson energy erupted from his sword, a focused wave of destruction aimed directly at Talon.

Talon's instincts kicked in. He raised Vybron, crossing it in front of him as a shield. The impact struck hard, forcing him backward. The ground beneath his feet cracked, but he held his ground.

Then—a loud metallic clang!

Vybron flew from his grasp, landing with a heavy thud on the ground.

Silence.

Talon stood in disbelief, his fingers trembling. "How…? How did he pull off two special attacks simultaneously?"

The referee raised his hand and shouted:

"ONE POINT GOES TO PHI FOR DISARMING TALON'S VYBRON!!"

The crowd erupted in cheers. The stadium shook with excitement. Phi smirked, his eyes burning with determination.

Talon clenched his fists, his heart pounding. He wasn't done yet.

The battlefield stood in silence for a moment after the intense first round. Talon, still in shock, clenched his fists as he stared at his sword—disarmed and lying on the ground. Phi, standing tall with a victorious smirk, looked down at him. The crowd roared with excitement, some chanting Phi's name while others cheered for Talon, hoping for a comeback.

Talon took a deep breath. He had underestimated Phi's power. Special moves used simultaneously? That was a rare feat, one that required immense skill and energy control. But Talon was not one to give up. His grip tightened on Vybron as he picked it up. The referee raised his hand.

"Bladers, take your positions for the second battle!" he announced.

The tension in the arena skyrocketed as both warriors took their stances. The championship trophy, still shining brightly above the battlefield, seemed almost within reach—but only one could claim it. The crowd held its breath.

"Threeee—" the countdown began.

"Twooo!" The energy in the air was electrifying.

"One!"

And then, in an instant, both bladers vanished in a flash of speed. Their swords clashed in mid-air, sending massive shockwaves throughout the battlefield. The sheer force of their attacks was unimaginable. Voilet and crimson energy intertwined like two celestial forces locked in battle, consuming the entire arena.

A Battlefield Reduced to Ruins

The ground beneath them shattered, mountains crumbled into dust, and the once lush battlefield turned into a desolate wasteland. The golden-yellow barrier, designed to withstand planetary-level explosions, flickered under the pressure. The spectators could only see streaks of purple and red energy colliding in the center like a storm of destruction.

Phi's voice echoed across the battlefield.

"PHOENIX! DREAD CANNON!"

A devastating blast of crimson energy shot toward Talon. Without hesitation, Talon countered.

"ETERNAL WYRM SLASH!"

Vybron roared with power as the two attacks met in a catastrophic explosion. The yellow barrier surrounding the battlefield trembled, small cracks appearing across its surface. But Phi wasn't finished yet.

"PHOENIX! DREAD CANNON!" he screamed again.

Talon's eyes widened. Again?!

He had no choice but to respond with everything he had.

"VYBRON! ABYSS COIL!"

Vybron's blade shifted, pulsating with dark violet energy as it twisted like a serpent, forming a defensive coil around Talon. The two forces clashed, sending a shockwave so powerful that it almost broke the protective barrier around the battlefield. Talon struggled against the sheer force of Phi's attacks, his feet sliding backward.

Phi's cold, confident voice rang out.

"My Phoenix is forged for destruction. Even legendary swords cannot stand against it!"

The Final Moment

The battlefield was completely devastated—cracks forming, craters everywhere. The golden barrier was now visibly damaged, trembling under the pressure. The sheer power of their duel was something the world had never seen before.

Talon refused to back down. He dug deep into his soul, summoning every ounce of his strength. His body radiated with pure violet energy.

"VYBRON!!!" he roared.

Above him, a massive dragon spirit emerged, its eyes glowing with raw power. The battlefield trembled as the Wyrm Spirit of Vybron let out an ear-shattering roar.

Phi smirked, unfazed.

"PHOENIX!!!" he screamed in response.

Above him, a colossal crimson phoenix burst into existence, spreading its fiery wings wide. The temperature of the battlefield skyrocketed as the two legendary spirits faced each other.

Talon disappeared in a flash, moving at speeds beyond comprehension. Phi's sword shifted into its chain form, ready for the final exchange.

Talon screamed:

"FINAL ATTACK—VYBRON FINAL CRASH!"

Phi countered:

"FINAL DREAD IMPACT!"

The two warriors charged at each other, their sword spirits clashing mid-air in a cosmic battle of destruction and power. Vybron's claws slashed at Phoenix's wings, and the energy around them reached critical mass.

The explosion was cataclysmic.

The entire arena shook violently. The golden barrier shattered into pieces, breaking like fragile glass. The sheer force of the impact sent shockwaves across the entire stadium.

When the dust settled, both warriors were still standing—barely. Their bodies trembled from exhaustion, struggling to keep their balance.

Then, Phi's eyes gleamed.

"PHOENIX! DREAD CANNON CRUSH!" he shouted one last time.

Talon's heart sank. Another special move?!

Before he could react, an explosion engulfed him.

When the smoke cleared, Vybron lay shattered, detached from its hilt.

Silence filled the stadium. Then—

"Two points to Phi! The winner of the Emerald Championship is Phi!" the referee shouted.

The crowd erupted in deafening cheers. Phi raised his sword in victory, his crimson energy still crackling in the air.

Talon fell to his knees, gasping for breath. He had given it his all—but Phi was on another level.

As Phi turned to the audience, a triumphant smirk on his face, he raised his championship sword toward the sky. The Emerald Championship Trophy descended toward him, marking his unshakable dominance.

The legend of Phi had just begun.

Jasper sat under the large oak tree, its branches swaying gently in the cool evening breeze. The stadium was still filled with the echoes of cheers and celebrations after Phi's overwhelming victory, but his mind was elsewhere. His heart ached for Talon, who had fought with everything he had, only to be defeated in the final clash. Yet, he couldn't deny it—Phi was on a completely different level.

As he exhaled deeply, trying to push his thoughts aside, he felt a slight weight on his shoulder. He turned his head slightly and froze.

Seinna was asleep, her head resting gently against him.

Jasper's entire body stiffened. He hadn't realized when she had drifted off, but now he was trapped. He couldn't move without waking her, and for some reason, he didn't want to wake her. The warmth of her presence was unfamiliar yet oddly comforting. The strands of her soft hair brushed against his arm, and he could hear her quiet, rhythmic breathing.

"What do I do now?" Jasper thought to himself.

A part of him wanted to nudge her awake, but another part—one he wasn't ready to acknowledge—wanted to let her rest a little longer.

Not far from them, Ryu, Kai, and Ai had already left for the hotel. They were on a mission—to contact Kenshiro Sensei for the Bell Test, an ancient training that tested a warrior's speed and awareness.

As they walked through the brightly lit streets, Ryu clenched his fists and declared, "I will become the strongest Shinobi Blader!" His eyes burned with determination.

Kai scoffed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "Loser," he muttered.

Ryu immediately turned toward him, eyes blazing. "What did you just say?!"

Kai smirked. "You heard me."

Before Ryu could retaliate, Ai sighed. "Can we just focus on calling Sensei? I don't want to listen to you two argue all night."

With that, the group continued walking toward the hotel, their voices fading into the background as Jasper remained seated under the tree.
