Chapter 29 - 29. When the Beast Broke the Cage

The very air had shifted, thick with a chaotic, primal force unlike anything before. The scent of blood and raw energy filled the enclosed barrier, crackling through the atmosphere like an approaching thunderstorm.

Ryuji was no longer moving like a shinobi. No longer human.

His body twisted and bent unnaturally, his form hunched low as he dropped onto all fours, fingers clawing into the dirt like a rabid beast. His dark-violet chakra flared violently, pulsating like a living thing—erratic, unstable, monstrous.

His once-fluid movements were now wild, unpredictable, his body snapping forward with unnatural speed.

Daimyo, for the first time, felt something close to genuine surprise.

Ryuji lunged.

A blur of black and violet, his monstrous form raced toward Daimyo, moving so fast that his claws ripped through the ground beneath him, leaving deep, jagged trenches in the earth.

Daimyo barely managed to react. He twisted his body just in time—

But Ryuji was already gone.

A flicker—

Then—

Ryuji appeared behind him.

His monstrous hand swung like a blade, claws extended.

Daimyo's instincts kicked in, and he managed to weave away—but just barely.

A single black claw sliced through his armor, cutting the metal like paper.

He leaped backward, flipping mid-air before skidding to a stop, his massive sword still resting on his back.

For a brief moment—he paused.

His fingers brushed over the gash on his chest armor. The cut wasn't deep, but it was there.

Daimyo's eyes narrowed.

"He's… faster than before."

But Ryuji wasn't done.

With an animalistic snarl, he dashed forward again, his entire body blurring with unnatural speed.

He zig-zagged unpredictably, moving in erratic patterns, his form almost impossible to track.

Daimyo clenched his fists, his mind analyzing the attack.

"His speed increased, but is it controlled? Or just wild?"

He exhaled slowly, steadying his stance.

"It doesn't matter. All beasts are the same. Wild, undisciplined, and bound to make mistakes."

Then—

Ryuji struck.

His claws lashed out in a flurry of savage attacks, slashing through the air at inhuman speeds.

Daimyo dodged left, right, backward, twisting, ducking, weaving—his movements razor-sharp, precise. He had fought monsters before. He had slain beings far more terrifying than this.

Yet—

Even as he dodged—

Ryuji kept getting faster.

Daimyo could feel it—his reaction time was being pushed.

And then—

One punch landed.

Ryuji's clawed fist drove straight into Daimyo's chest.

BOOM.

The impact exploded outward, the sheer force ripping through the air, sending a violent shockwave crashing against the walls of the barrier.

Daimyo's body flew backward like a cannonball.

His form smashed through the battlefield, his massive frame slamming into the barrier wall with a thunderous crack. The force of impact sent deep fractures spreading across the wall, dust and debris collapsing around him.

For the first time—

Daimyo felt the impact.

Not pain. Not yet.

But it was enough to make him realize—

This wasn't a normal transformation.

Ryuji, hunched and breathing heavily, lifted his monstrous gaze toward him.

His pupils were narrowed, predatory.

His breath came out ragged, guttural, inhuman.

And then—

He grinned.

A wild, feral grin full of razor-sharp teeth.

Daimyo wiped the blood from his lip, his muscles flexing as he pushed himself off the wall.

A rare smirk played at the edges of his lips.

"Heh… Interesting."

This fight…

Had just begun.

***

A final, guttural growl rumbled from Ryuji's throat. His monstrous, dark-violet chakra still pulsed violently around his body, even as his strength rapidly faded. His feral, predatory eyes locked onto Daimyo, instincts screaming for one last strike.

With a final burst of raw power, Ryuji dashed forward, his form blurring into a black-violet streak. The very air trembled beneath his monstrous speed, his clawed fists aimed straight for Daimyo's skull.

BOOM!

Daimyo reacted instantly, raising his massive sword to block the devastating attack—

But the moment Ryuji's fist connected, the impact sent a shockwave so powerful that the ground beneath them shattered.

A deafening crack split the air.

Daimyo's blade—his trusted, monstrous weapon— snapped in half.

The force of the blow sent Daimyo flying backward, his broken sword crashing through the barrier.

SHATTER!

The once-impenetrable barrier cracked and collapsed, its pieces falling away like shards of glass.

Daimyo's body crashed violently outside, rolling across the dirt in a cloud of dust.

The battle inside the barrier was over.

But the war wasn't done yet.

As the dust settled, Aiko and Sienna sprinted toward Kai, while Jasper and Serena rushed to Ryuji's side.

Serena dropped to her knees, gripping Ryuji's shoulders, shaking him desperately.

"Hey! Wake up, idiot!" Her voice was trembling. "You won, so don't you dare pass out now!"

Jasper, kneeling beside her, pressed two fingers to Ryuji's motionless chest.

For a second, there was nothing.

No breath.

No pulse.

Jasper's expression darkened. He pressed harder. Still nothing.

Serena's hands started shaking.

"No, no, no—"

Jasper gritted his teeth and, without a second thought, pushed down on Ryuji's chest.

One. Two. Three.

"Come on, idiot, breathe," Jasper muttered, sweat forming on his brow.

Nothing.

Serena's heart pounded in her chest, her breath growing shallow.

No. He can't die. Not after all this.

Her hands curled into fists. She had no idea what she was doing—all she knew was that she refused to lose him.

Without thinking, she leaned down.

Her lips pressed against his.

And then—she breathed.

A single breath of life.

For a moment, everything was still.

Then—

Ryuji's body convulsed.

His lungs expanded sharply.

His eyes snapped open.

A deep gasp tore from his throat as he suddenly jerked upright, eyes wide with shock.

Serena, startled, stumbled backward, wiping her mouth furiously.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Ryuji gasped, looking around in confusion.

"Why… why do my lips taste… sweet?" His voice was genuine confusion.

Jasper smirked. "You were just in heaven for a second, dumbass."

Serena, face burning red, whirled around and punched Jasper straight in the jaw.

"SHUT UP!"

Jasper toppled sideways, laughing.

"Ow! Worth it!"

Ryuji, still in shock, touched his lips. "Wait a minute…"

Serena grabbed him by the collar, shaking him. "YOU SAY NOTHING."

Ryuji, terrified, just nodded rapidly.

"Yes, ma'am!"

Meanwhile, outside the battlefield, Daimyo's body slowly rose.

Despite the damage, despite his wounds, his aura was still burning with rage.

His head lifted toward the landlord and his grandson, his bloodstained lips curling into a sneer.

"I will not be defeated by children."

He dashed forward, swordless, his hands forming seals.

A final, desperate attack.

But before he could take another step—

Kenshiro appeared in front of him.

Faster than lightning.

"You can't stop me, Kenshiro," Daimyo growled.

Kenshiro's voice was calm but deadly.

"You're a monster, Daimyo. A real one. You kill for amusement, slaughter for pleasure, and you call it power. But now? You're trapped."

Daimyo narrowed his eyes. "You know nothing—"

"I know everything." Kenshiro's voice was ice cold.

"I know how you failed to kill the Kasai Clan Landlord."

Daimyo froze.

"You ran like a coward."

Kenshiro stepped forward. "So you took over the Yamigawa. You murdered the feudal lord. You butchered the people."

Daimyo's eyes darkened.

And then—he laughed.

"So what?" he sneered. "They were weak. Useless worms. Killing them just made things simpler."

Kenshiro's jaw clenched. His fingers curled into fists.

"Your kind are worse than worms, Daimyo." His voice dropped lower. "Even hell wouldn't take you."

Kenshiro reached for his headband.

And lifted it.

Revealing his Akarugan.

Daimyo's eyes widened in realization.

The Level 3 Akarugan.

His pupil burned crimson red, surrounded by three ember-shaped tomoe, rotating slowly, flickering like fire.

Kenshiro's voice was deadly quiet.

"No one has ever lived after seeing my Akarugan."

Then—

"Ignition Sight."

Daimyo's body locked in place.

His muscles froze. His breath hitched. His entire soul screamed.

Then—

Fire.

An unrelenting inferno erupted from within Daimyo's very being.

Flames exploded from his eyes, mouth, and skin, engulfing him in pure, merciless agony.

His screams of agony shattered the sky.

His body began to melt, the flames consuming every part of him.

"NO! THIS CAN'T BE—!!"

Then, nothing.

Daimyo was gone.

Reduced to ashes.

The war was over.

***

Aiko knelt beside Kai's body, her fingers trembling.

Tears dripped onto his bruised face, her hands gripping his bloodstained shirt.

Sienna, standing nearby, spoke softly.

"Now's your chance, Aiko." Her voice was gentle. "Say what's in your heart."

Aiko's breath caught in her throat.

Her hands curled tightly into fists.

Then—Kai stirred.

His eyes flickered open.

Aiko gasped, her heart skipping a beat.

Then, without thinking—

She hugged him.

Tight.

"Kai…!" Her voice cracked. "You're alive…"

Kai, still dazed, muttered groggily.

"Tch. Did you really think I'd die that easily, idiot?"

Aiko just held onto him tighter.

For once—

He didn't push her away.

The battlefield was eerily silent.
