I tilted my head slightly, waiting for her response.
Then Gia turned to me. Her eyes were tired, but clear.
"I'm sorry, Mom, I know this is what you wanted." Gia's voice didn't waver. "You taught me to be strong. You just never thought I'd use that strength to make my own life."
She squeezed her hand tight. "I'm going to take Alex's side on this, I'm going with him." Gia said.
The silence that followed was heavier than any misunderstanding.
"Step up Gia." I ordered.
She carefully made her steps up. Then I reached out my hand, the one that had my gold ring on.
"Kiss the ring."
Signifying the level of her status amongst others.
She instantly kissed my ring.
Galenda nods her head, definitely it's what she wanted, and she did her very best so her daughter could as well.
But if I didn't realize how much of a gem Gia was I wouldn't have taken them seriously no matter how much money was offered to me.
