Chapter 34 - White Clothed Taoist

"Amitabha...! Those taoist monk are truly shameless!" said the Thian Cu monk angrily, clenching his fists.

Seeing his junior brother's attitude, the BlackFaced Monk smiled.

"Junior brother, calm down, and it would be best if you just open a trial with those Shaolin Sect disciples and let the pin-ceng come down and see what's going on there."

Thian Cu monk nodded with relief. If his senior brother were to step forward, he wouldn't have any worries. His senior brother possessed superior martial art than his, and he knew that those taoist monk were not people to be taken lightly.

"Very well, Senior brother. I hope Senior brother can handle the situation there."

BlackFaced Monk then left the hut where the Shaolin Sect leader lived. After finding out where the taoist monk were fighting the Shaolin Sect disciples, he flashed and disappeared before the awed Shaolin Sect disciples.

BlackFaced Monk quickly ran down from the southern side of Mount Song. As if flying, he descended the hill and soon arrived at the foot of the hill, where he saw a fierce battle taking place between dozens of Shaolin disciples and dozens of taoist monk. The Shaolin disciples were led by a tall, old monk he knew as Thian Gi Monk, the junior brother of Thian Cu Monk, who served as the deputy head of Shaolin Sect.

Although BlackFaced Monk and Thian Cu monk share a brotherhood, BlackFaced Monk and Thian Gi monk are not related to each other. While he was senior brother to Thian Cu Monk because he was a disciple of a same powerful ascetic in the Himalaya, Thian Gi Monk became Thian Cu monk's brother in the Shaolin Sect. Therefore, Thian Gi monk is an expert in the Shaolin martial art, and especially, he is skilled in using the staff in the Lohan martial art.

The battle that occurred on the hill was initially caused by a personal fight between a Shaolin disciples and a taoist monk that passing by. Because there was already animosity between the two parties, an exchange of insults ensued, which ended in a fight. However, the taoist's friends arrived and attacked. The Shaolin disciples learned about this and immediately came to the aid of their brother. A fierce battle ensued, involving dozens of Shaolin disciples against dozens of taoist monk.

Because the Shaolin disciples involved in the battle were first class students and led by the Thian Gi monk himself, and the taoist monk themselves were highly skilled in martial arts, the battle was incredibly intense.

Although no one was seriously injured when the BlackFaced Monk arrived, the elder understood that if it continued, both sides would suffer greatly, and that numerous casualties would be inevitable. He also saw how the highly skilled Thian Gi monk had encountered an equally skilled opponent, a long-bearded taoist who wielded a pair of swords masterfully. The staff in Thian Gi monk's hands, moved very quickly, transformed into a wide, ray-like coil of light, which collided with the ray-like coil of the sword.

The battle was already involving weapons, and casualties would inevitably occur at any moment if he didn't intervene immediately, thought BlackFaced Monk. And the only best way to mediate and reconcile the two opposing sides was to withdraw first.

"My brothers from Shaolin, I implore you to retreat and stop fighting!" Saying this, BlackFaced Monk leaped into the fray and used both hands to push towards Thian Gi monk and the Shaolin disciples. From his hands came a gentle yet powerful force, surprising the Shaolin disciples and forcing them back!

At that moment, a gentle voice rang out.

"Sadhu..... , the Tao believers will not use violence against peoples. Retreat, my brothers!" And a shadowy figure in white clothes flashed, just like the BlackFaced Monk. This white shadow pushed the taoist monk, forcing them to retreat. Thus, the all-out battle ended.

Thian Gi monk and the Shaolin disciples, who had initially been curious to see someone blocking their way, were shocked when they saw that it was an old monk with a black face. Although they had only met BlackFaced Monk twice, they all knew him as their leader's senior brother and possessed extremely advanced skills, even more skilled than their leader.

Thian Gi monk anger vanished, replaced by astonishment and curiosity as to why this senior brother of the Shaolin leader, who, although not a member of Shaolin, was also a Buddhist monk, would break up the fight and not help the Shaolin disciples!

Meanwhile, the taoist monk were also surprised to see the white shadow that separated and pushed them back. However, when they recognized the taoist monk with the long beard and white robe, they were also surprised and immediately saluted. The taoist monk was indeed very well known among the followers of the Tao Religion, especially among its prominent figures, as he was a highly learned Taoist Religion.

His nickname was White Clothed Taoist. He was very humble, even using the nickname simply "Taoist", clearly referring to his white clothing as his identity. He was a hermit on the peak of Mount Thai San and occasionally traveled to visit Tao Religion temples to meet with their leaders, provide guidance in the Tao teaching, and also teach him martial arts. Both his martial arts and his knowledge of the Tao Religion were vast.

After both sides ceased fighting and retreated to their respective positions, the two old men faced each other, only two meters apart. They looked at each other, both smiling, and it was BlackFaced Monk who laughed first.

"Ha-ha-ha... It's truly a pleasure to meet a wise man. Am pin-ceng facing White Clothed Taoist?"

White Clothed Taoist stroked his beard and widened his smile. "Sadhu... I've long heard of BlackFaced monk's great name, and I'm truly happy to meet him today."

The two laughed happily, and the two who had been fighting each other and were now in groups simply listened without uttering a word. They each hoped that the powerful figures would help their respective sides.

"Amitabha, White Clothed Taoist really does wear white clothes, befitting his nickname!"

"That's right, and BlackFaced monk also has a black face, befitting his nickname!" They both laughed again.

"Ha-ha-ha, if you weren't wearing white clothes, your nickname might no longer be White Clothed Taoist, but you would still be you!"

"Sadhu, that's right! If your face wasn't black, your nickname might not be BlackFaced monk, but you would still be you!"

The two laughed again, stepped forward, and clasped hands in a peaceful gesture! The words coming from the mouths of the two powerful figures seemed like mere jest, but they actually contained a revealing truth. They were saying that all forms are merely external and have nothing to do with themselves. They can change their faces, change their clothes, and change their names, but they remain the same person, a human born and live in this world! They were now holding hands and laughing.

"Sadhu, BlackFaced monk, you and I are no different!"

"Indeed, you and I are the same. Therefore, it is truly sad to see our brothers fighting each other, hating each other, and trying to kill each other. Let's talk it out, White Clothed Taoist!"

"You're absolutely right, BlackFaced monk, let's sit down and talk."

The two of them sat cross-legged on the ground, facing each other. Seeing this, the two groups who had been standing watching and listening also sat down.

"BlackFaced Monk, now that we have the good fortune to meet, pin-tao hope you won't be stingy and will enlighten us ignorant taoist monk. Why is there such enmity between Buddhists and Taoist followers?"

"Amitabha, may the Buddha guide us all to the bright path, my good brother, White Clothed Taoist. According to what pin-ceng see, all forms of enmity arise from ignorance! If enmity arises between two religious groups, it is certainly due to fanaticism, and fanaticism is ignorance!"
