With Sister Lily supporting him, Sylvar walked step by step to the door of the dormitory. He opened his magic book. He unsealed the soft mattresses. He unsealed the large amount of clean clothes. He unsealed the bedding. He unsealed the toys. One after another, the items appeared and were placed in front of the dormitory door.
Sylvar looked at the children and smiled. He said, "These are for everyone. You must take good care of them."
All the children answered happily, "Okay!"
Then they ran over excitedly. They surrounded the pile of toys. They touched the mattresses. They circled the iron bed frames. They picked up the clean clothes.
Sister Lily stood behind Sylvar. She looked at the large pile of things. She said in surprise, "How can there be so many things? Even with your monthly salary, you wouldn't be able to buy all this."
Asta's salary had already been paid. Sylvar's had not. In Sister Lily's eyes, this could only have been purchased with his salary.
Sylvar did not explain.
"It's not from salary. How could salary buy this much?" He paused. "Sister Lily, please take me to the kitchen. I brought some meat. The children are still growing. If they eat wild sweet potatoes every day, they'll easily become malnourished."
Sister Lily looked at the noisy children. She hesitated. "But unless these things are properly distributed, the children won't leave."
Sylvar felt that his head had cleared somewhat. He waved his hand lightly. "Forget it. I'll go by myself. I'm a little dizzy, but I won't be unable to find the way."
Nash stepped forward. As the oldest among the children, he already carried himself like a small adult.
"I'll take Brother Sylvar to the kitchen. And next time, don't drink so much. It's embarrassing that you can't even recognize the road!" Nash said.
Sylvar replied, "Okay."
Nash walked to Sylvar's side. He reached out and supported him. Then the two of them walked toward the kitchen together.
After arriving in the kitchen, Sylvar opened his magic book. He reached inside and took out several large pieces of meat. He placed them on the table.
"Cook these at noon today," he said.
Then he took out more meat. He placed all of it on the table. He raised his hand and used freezing magic. Frost spread outward. The pieces of meat were frozen solid into ice blocks.
He continued, "Find a place to store these. It should be enough to last a long time. If it's still not enough, send me a letter. I'll use spatial magic to come back and hunt wild boars in the forest."
Nash's eyes were wide open. He stared at the meat. He did not seem to hear what Sylvar was saying.
At that moment, Sylvar suddenly felt a splitting headache. His body felt uncomfortable. He turned around. He walked out of the kitchen. He opened his magic book again. He took out a bed from spatial storage. He placed it outside the cafeteria. Then he lay down on it.
Nash followed him out. He ran to get a glass of water. He came back. He handed it to Sylvar.
"Drink some water. Drinking more water will help you sober up."
Sylvar lifted the glass. His eyelids drooped. He drank the well water. He did not feel any sign of sobering up.
Vanessa really is a scoundrel. She poured a whole bottle of white liquor into me. A full catty.
He asked for another glass. He drank it. Then he drank a third.
After drinking three glasses in a row, his eyes grew heavy. He fell into a deep sleep.
Nash called out, "Brother Sylvar!"
There was no response.
He stood there and waited.
Near noon, the nuns came to prepare food. They discovered Sylvar sleeping on the bed outside the cafeteria door.
Sister Lily looked at him. She did not wake him. She only smiled faintly and went inside to cook.
At lunchtime, Nash stepped forward and called him.
"It's time to eat."
Sylvar opened his eyes. "Oh."
He shook his head. The dizziness had lessened. He stood up from the bed. He followed Nash toward the dining table.
As he passed by the dormitory, he looked inside. All the things he had taken out had already been moved in.
So fast!
Only about a dozen or twenty iron beds were heavy.
But there were still many mattresses and toys.
How did they move everything so quickly?
There were only children here. An old priest. Sister Lily.
Could they really move that much in such a short time?
Ah.
Magic.
Even simple object-moving magic would be enough.
And Asta's strength cannot be underestimated.
At the dining table, the priest had tears in his eyes. He looked deeply moved.
"Sylvar has really grown up." He paused. "By the way, why didn't Yuno come back?"
Asta answered, "Yuno isn't in the same Magic Knight squad as us. We haven't seen him."
Sylvar said, "After this meal, Asta and I need to return to the base. We can't be away too long."
The priest's eyes filled with tears again. "Why must it be like this? Can't you stay a little longer?"
Sylvar spoke calmly. "We just joined the Magic Knights. How could we be gone for long?"
After a moment of silence, Asta began chatting with Sister Lily again.
Then, as usual, Asta straightened up and said loudly, "Sister Lily! Please marry me!"
Sister Lily's expression did not change.
She raised her hand.
"Water Creation Magic: Water Holy Fist."
A fist of water struck Asta.
He was knocked flat to the ground.
Laughter erupted around the table.
After finishing the meal, Sylvar stood up. He prepared to leave.
He walked to the open space in front of the church. He opened his magic book. He began to use spatial corridor magic.
He paused. He thought carefully.
To avoid any unexpected situations, he turned to Asta.
"You go first. Check the location. Come back and tell me if there's any problem."
Asta shouted, "Hey! I became a test subject?! Is that really okay?!"
"Only Asta can do this."
"Well, if you say so—"
Asta stepped into the spatial corridor.
Two seconds later, he stepped back out.
"It's the Black Bulls' base! No mistake!"
Sylvar turned toward the priest. He looked at Sister Lily. He looked at the children.
"See you next time. Bye."
He raised his hand and waved.
A chorus of voices rang out.
"Bye-bye!"
He stepped through the spatial corridor.
The Black Bulls' base appeared in the distance.
The next morning.
Asta shouted loudly outside Sylvar's room.
"Sylvar! Wake up!"
Sylvar opened his door. He walked out. "What happened?"
"The captain wants us in the hall right now! There's a mission!"
Sylvar remembered the feeling of his skull nearly being crushed in one hand.
He immediately walked toward the hall.
As soon as he entered, a large hand like a palm fan grabbed his skull.
If he resisted, his head would be crushed.
Yami Sukehiro's face was dark.
"You two brats made me wait."
Asta trembled. "Captain Yami, we just arrived!"
Sylvar opened his mouth to speak.
Despair filled him.
What a stupid teammate.
Yami's grip tightened around both Sylvar and Asta.
Three seconds later, Yami released them and spoke seriously.
"Listen up. A new dungeon has just been discovered."
The people in the hall looked over. Some had stayed up too late. Some had drunk too much. But they all focused now.
Magna shouted, "Is that true?!"
Asta yelled, "What's a dungeon?!"
Magna's face twisted in annoyance. "You don't even know what a dungeon is and you're shouting?! Listen carefully! A dungeon is a structure similar to an ancient tomb. Inside are relics left behind by ancient people. Powerful ancient magic. Precious magic tools. It's an extremely dangerous place."
Luck's eyes shone. "And to prevent others from using those magic tools for evil, they set up powerful traps inside. That's why it's dangerous—and interesting!"
Asta shouted again.
This time it was fear.
Vanessa said, "Because dungeons are so dangerous, they're usually explored by Magic Knights. That's to stop people with ulterior motives from stealing the relics."
Yami spoke calmly. "This dungeon is special. It appeared near the border of an unfriendly neighboring country. To prevent the enemy from stealing the relics, I need you to handle this properly. I heard that someone once found a magic tool in a dungeon that could even change the level of civilization. There are also tools that allow someone to use extremely powerful magic."
Asta raised his hand high. "Let me go!"
There was light in his eyes.
Yami looked at him. "Go and cause a scene, brats."
He paused.
"The Wizard King specifically asked for you."
Asta froze. "The Wizard King?!"
Magna looked shocked. "That's amazing! Asta! Sylvar! You actually received direct orders from the Wizard King!"
So that's how it is.
Asta.
Sylvar.
Noelle.
Luck.
They arrived at the entrance of the dungeon.
