(LIAM'S POV)
My eyes refused to make sense of what I was seeing.
One second, Roland stood in front of the door, tall and imposing, his broad shoulders blocking my only way out. He had locked the door. Trapped me. His usually calm expression was gone now, cracking apart right before my eyes. Something raw and painful flashed across his face, something that looked almost like heartbreak.
Then the room exploded with sound. A deep crack echoed through the bedroom. Not a normal crack. It sounded like thick tree trunks snapping apart in the middle of a storm.
I flinched violently.
Another crack followed. Then another.
The air around Roland seemed to distort, rippling as though invisible waves were tearing through the room. His entire body jerked. Muscles swelled beneath his clothes, stretching the fabric until it looked ready to split apart.
"What the—" The words died in my throat.
