Dawn was breaking.
But all was quiet around the Lockwood Squad.
From above, the entire area resembled a scorched wasteland.
The bodies of zombies and charred, carbonized tissue were piled up everywhere.
In an open area on the fourth floor, many people were lying on the ground, splayed out like stars.
They had just survived a night that brought them to death's door and back.
It was only over when the last zombie was killed.
"Hehehe…"
"We held them off. We held them off."
Julian Dempsey said with a laugh, leaning against the wall.
"Walsh? You're awake?"
Molly Ulrich was distributing small amounts of water and food to everyone.
She was pleasantly surprised to see that Walsh had opened his eyes.
"Ms. Ulrich…"
"Am I… am I still alive?"
Walsh looked down at his wound and discovered that the Gold Spike was gone.
The wound still hurt when he moved, but he already felt much better.
"Walsh, you're finally awake."
Eric Stone walked over, supported by Kurt Garrison.
