Chapter 81 - Such a Beautiful View, I Invite You All to Enjoy

"Another guest!"

On the rooftop, Gabriel gave a gentle tug with her right hand. The golden Chain of Commandments tore through space, dragging out the desperately struggling spider evil spirit.

The spider evil spirit's limbs were pierced by the Chain of Commandments, which locked it firmly, ensuring that no matter how much it struggled, it could not break free.

In the air above the rooftop, golden Chain of Commandments crisscrossed. One terrifying ghost after another was impaled through the body, bound tightly together.

For a moment, towering malice and chilly winds swirled above the school, filled with wailing as if it were the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Some evil spirits who possessed a shred of sanity widened their eyes in terror, staring at Gabriel below as if they had seen a ghost.

Immediately, sounds of pleading for mercy drifted down.

They felt a lethal, fatal threat emanating from her, as if facing a natural enemy.

The spiritual bodies of all the evil spirits trembled uncontrollably with fear.

The angelic power pouring out from Gabriel like a mountain flood, even though it was not directly targeted at them, had aftershocks alone that nearly caused their spiritual bodies to collapse.

Furthermore, her initially liberated status exerted absolute suppression over these evil spirits. At this moment, they felt like insects staring directly at a star; even if she did nothing, the pressure made it impossible for them to stand straight, and they could not muster a single spark of resistance in their hearts.

"These should be enough."

Gabriel looked at these hundred or so evil spirits. Deciding the quantity was sufficient, she slowly withdrew her power.

She had just scouted several cities centered around the school, specifically capturing evil spirits of decent strength, while also snatching a few weak ones without even a hint of intelligence for use as control experiments.

During the process, Gabriel also marked several ghostly gods who were out hunting evil spirits.

Once she finished the trivial matters at hand, she planned to pay them a personal visit.

"Yuria, how does it feel to be surrounded by these fellows? Is there a sense of pleasure like having a harem? Especially those few—their looks are one in ten thousand. Quick, tell me your thoughts."

Gabriel turned her head to look at Yuria, pointing toward the hundred evil spirits above, specifically at the dozens with peculiar, high sanity loss appearances.

A gust of chilly wind blew across the rooftop and brushed against Yuria's neck, making her shiver involuntarily.

Yuria dazed for a moment, snapping back from the miracle just now.

She lifted her head, and the grotesque monsters in the sky were reflected in her lively eyes.

"They look surprisingly un-scary."

Yuria observed them for a good while before finally replying in a somewhat uncertain tone: "Instead... they are all quite... cute?"

In her perspective, the ones bound in the air by chains were not evil spirits, but rather the silly, cute mascots from a children's anime.

Each one stared with innocent, large doll-like eyes, clumsily waving their uncoordinated limbs and making chirping, gibbering noises.

If Gabriel hadn't said these were evil spirits, she would have thought the other party was putting on some kind of Toy Story.

"Oh? Then I'll ask one last time: do all these evil spirits look cute to you, or just a portion of them?"

Gabriel's expression instantly became serious.

"They look a bit like plush toys. Although the styles vary, they all surprisingly fit my aesthetic quite well."

After confirming several times, Yuria patted her chest to indicate she wasn't lying.

"Version 20, a full twenty versions! After dozens of days of working day and night, I finally have the end result. I finally don't have to work hard anymore!"

Tears welled in the corners of Gabriel's eyes, and her hands trembled slightly with excitement.

Using her vacation time for work—what employee could withstand such a tragedy!

"Does this mean I've passed all the tests?"

Yuria realized the situation and also squeezed her hands together in excitement.

Great! From now on, she would never have to look at weird things that required washing her eyes again!

The rooftop door was pushed open.

"So you guys were here too!"

Hana Yurikawa led Miko Yotsuya onto the rooftop. Her eyes lit up upon seeing Gabriel and Yuria.

She wanted to find a better spot to admire this once-in-a-century wonder, which is why she came to the rooftop, intending to take some photos to keep as souvenirs.

However, as an ordinary person, Hana Yurikawa could not see Gabriel's angel form at all, so her attention was quickly drawn to the scenery in the sky.

"That's strange. Why are there no feathers falling down specifically here?"

Hana Yurikawa held her phone and looked up at the sky with a puzzled expression.

"Ah, this..."

Upon seeing the terrifying scene of the Night Parade wailing in the sky, Miko Yotsuya's face turned pale instantly.

What lay ahead was... hell!

Although her courage had grown significantly after Gabriel's special training, being forced to face the final boss right after leaving the starter village was a bit too much to ask!

No, this is bad... her legs were feeling weak again...

Miko Yotsuya's face was stiff as she naturally shifted her gaze. Beneath her short skirt, her fair and tender legs pressed tightly together, trembling slightly.

"Perhaps this place is a bit special."

Gabriel answered Hana Yurikawa's question.

Then she spoke to Yuria again: "Very good, you have successfully passed my test. I will fulfill my original promise afterward. But before that, I'll help you adjust the cognition filter to a normal standard."

Setting the cognition filter too high wasn't good either. Over time, one would lose their sense of awe toward powerful evil spirits, and the consequences would be unthinkable.

Even if you perceive a knife as a clump of harmless foam, the function of the knife remains unchanged; it can still stab someone to death.

Once adjusted to the normal standard, the cognition filter would reasonably adjust the level of fright based on the user's psychological endurance, rather than mindlessly beautifying or neutralizing everything.

With a thought from Gabriel, the necklace on Yuria's neck flashed with divine light.

The moment the cognition filter was adjusted, the harmless coats on the hundred evil spirits in the sky fell away, and Yuria's excited expression froze instantly.

The horrific and terrifying images flashed out abruptly, causing Yuria's pupils to shrink violently. She subconsciously tightened her legs, her body trembling slightly as she hurriedly lowered her head.

So scary, so scary, so scary...

Yuria's heart wailed in grief.

"Gabriel, you're chatting about things I don't understand with Yuria again. But you're right, this place is indeed special. I feel like many pairs of eyes are staring at me. It's so lively!"

Hana Yurikawa made a high-spirited joke to the group.

However, neither Miko Yotsuya nor Yuria could laugh; they didn't even know how to respond.

Because there were indeed many pairs of eyes in the sky staring down at them.

The number of evil spirits was clearly only around a hundred, but the number of eyes gave the impression of exceeding a thousand.

Being stared at by so many pairs of eyes at once inevitably made one's scalp tingle and hair stand on end.
