Leo woke before sunrise again.
At this point his body barely needed alarms anymore. Weeks of hospital schedules and early shifts had trained him into it. He lay still for a moment staring at the ceiling, listening to the apartment breathe softly around him.
Then he reached for his phone automatically.
One message waited.
Alex: got home late from company dinner. exhausted.
Alex: miss you.
Alex: sleep well baby
Leo smiled faintly into the pillow before typing back.
Leo: already awake Leo: you're terrible at resting
Three dots appeared almost immediately.
Alex: says the man awake before dawn
Leo shook his head softly and climbed out of bed before the conversation could turn into another argument about sleep schedules.
The kitchen was cold this early.
