Jay was already working when the call came in.
His screen was filled with layered data, lines of code moving in structured order as his fingers worked steadily across the keyboard. There was nothing rushed about him, nothing distracted. His posture remained straight, his expression neutral, eyes focused with quiet precision. The office moved around him as usual, conversations low, footsteps controlled, but none of it pulled his attention away.
He didn't look at his phone immediately when it rang.
He already knew who it was.
The second ring came.
Then he picked it up.
"Yes."
Roman's voice came through, calm and direct.
"Don't forget about tonight."
Jay didn't stop typing.

There was a brief silence on the line, just enough to feel intentional.
