The night didn't
By the time they stepped out of the building, the air had cooled into something crisp, carrying the faint hum of the city settling into evening. The lights along the driveway reflected off the polished surface of Roman's car, sleek and dark, waiting like it always did controlled, precise, untouched.
Jay didn't hesitate.
He reached for Roman's hand the moment they stepped outside.
It wasn't dramatic. It wasn't soft either. It was just… natural. Like something that had already been decided long before this moment.
Roman glanced down at their hands briefly, then back ahead, saying nothing as they walked toward the car together.
Jay, however, was already in his own world.
When they reached the car, Roman released his hand to unlock it.
Jay didn't move,He just stood there Waiting.
Roman opened the driver's side door halfway before pausing, sensing the shift behind him. He turned slightly, his brows drawing together.
