Chapter 43 - Boundaries

After meeting Noah—

Luisa walked toward the library.

Her steps were slow, quiet… but her mind wasn't.

Everything felt heavy again.

She pushed the door open and entered.

The familiar silence of the library wrapped around her—calm… still… almost comforting.

She walked to the corner table.

Her table.

Sat down.

Opened her book.

And started studying.

At least… she tried to.

Her eyes moved across the lines—

But her mind kept drifting.

Again.

And again.

To him.

Ben.

Luisa (thinking):

He's in Aves now…

He said he's going to meet her…

Her fingers tightened slightly around the pen.

A strange discomfort settled inside her chest.

Luisa sighed softly.

Luisa (thinking):

I should stop thinking about him…

Her gaze dropped to the book again.

Luisa (thinking):

When I already know… he's madly in love with her…

Those words hurt.

Even in her own mind.

And yet—

A quiet truth remained.

She was still in love with him.

Deeply.

Hopelessly.

And no matter how much she tried—

She couldn't get rid of it.

Luisa leaned back slightly, closing her eyes for a second.

Luisa (thinking):

What's wrong with me…

Meanwhile—

David stood outside with his friends.

Friend 1: "How are you doing these days?"

David: "Good… what about you?"

Friend 2: "I'm good."

He looked at David carefully.

Friend 2: "What's up with you though? You keep looking around… searching for something—or someone?"

David paused.

Just for a second.

David: "No… nothing like that."

But his eyes still wandered.

Unconsciously.

Looking.

For her.

Back in the library—

Luisa tried to focus again.

Turning a page.

Holding her pen.

Reading.

But then—

She felt it.

That presence.

That slight shift in the air.

Before she could even look up—

A chair slid.

Right in front of her.

Luisa's brows furrowed slightly.

She looked up—

And froze.

Noah.

Sitting across from her.

Like he belonged there.

Leaning back comfortably.

A small smirk on his lips.

Noah:

"You really like running away, don't you?"

Luisa's expression turned serious.

Luisa:

"This is a library."

Noah glanced around casually.

Noah:

"I can see that."

He leaned forward slightly.

Lowering his voice.

Noah:

"So I'm talking quietly."

Luisa closed her book halfway.

Clearly annoyed.

Luisa:

"What do you want?"

Noah smiled.

Not offended at all.

In fact—

More interested.

Noah:

"You."

Luisa's eyes narrowed.

Luisa:

"Stop it."

Noah chuckled softly.

Noah:

"You're always this serious?"

Luisa:

"I'm here to study."

Noah leaned his elbow on the table.

Resting his chin on his hand.

Watching her.

Closely.

Noah:

"You know… I've seen a lot of girls."

A pause.

Noah:

"But none like you."

Luisa:

"I'm not interested."

Direct.

Cold.

Clear.

But Noah didn't move.

Didn't step back.

Instead—

He leaned slightly closer.

Noah:

"That's what makes it interesting."

Luisa felt uncomfortable.

Her grip tightened on the pen.

Luisa:

"You're making me uncomfortable."

Noah's expression softened—just a little.

But not enough.

Noah:

"Then tell me to leave."

Luisa looked straight into his eyes.

Luisa:

"I am telling you."

A brief silence.

But Noah still didn't move.

Instead—

He tilted his head.

Studying her.

Noah:

"You're already dealing with something… aren't you?"

Luisa's expression changed slightly.

Just for a second.

But he noticed.

Noah (low voice):

"That guy… the one you keep thinking about."

Luisa's eyes widened slightly.

Luisa:

"You don't know anything."

Noah:

"I don't need to."

He leaned back again.

Casual.

Confident.

Noah:

"It shows."

Luisa stood up abruptly.

The chair made a slight noise.

Luisa:

"I don't have time for this."

She grabbed her book.

Her bag.

And walked away.

Fast.

But Noah stood up too.

Following her.

Noah:

"Why are you running again?"

Luisa stopped.

Turned sharply.

Her patience—

Gone.

Luisa:

"I'm not running!"

Her voice wasn't loud—

But it was sharp.

Enough to make a few people glance.

Luisa:

"I just don't want to talk to you."

A pause.

Her eyes held anger now.

Mixed with frustration.

Mixed with exhaustion.

Luisa:

"You don't understand boundaries."

Noah went quiet for a moment.

Watching her.

Really watching her this time.

Not just teasing.

Not just playing.

But something else—

A hint of seriousness.

Noah:

"I just wanted to talk."

Luisa:

"I don't."

Simple.

Final.

Luisa:

"And don't follow me again."

Her voice softened at the end—

But not in kindness.

In tiredness.

Then—

She turned.

And walked away.

This time—

Without stopping.

Without looking back.

Noah stood there.

Hands in his pockets.

Watching her disappear.

Noah (thinking):

Interesting…

A slow smile appeared again.

But this time—

It wasn't just playful.

It was curious.

Noah:

"You're not easy…"

A pause.

Noah (softly):

"That's fine."

He turned—

Walking the opposite direction.

Noah:

"I like challenges."
