Bored, Aria Sterling found an e-book on her phone and read until she was drowsy.
The reception room door opened. Chase Sharp said to Cody Scott, "Captain Scott, I need to speak with Aria Sterling alone."
Cody Scott took the hint and stopped in his tracks.
After Chase entered, he closed the door.
Aria glanced at the newcomer and put her phone away.
"Aria Sterling, we meet again." Chase walked over, placed his briefcase on the coffee table, and greeted Aria with a smile.
Aria's lips twitched into a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Captain Sharp, long time no see."
"It's been less than half a year since we last met," Chase said with a laugh.
"If you wanted to see me, Captain Sharp, you could have just come to Valerium. Why keep me cooped up in a police station?" Aria was clearly displeased with Chase for detaining her at the station.
Chase said, "Our situations are different. For us, there's no safer place than a police station."
