「1:00 AM, at the hospital.」
Shelly Sterling and Sean Jennings rushed to the hospital, asking for directions along the way before finally finding Iris Jennings's room.
Inside the room, Iris Jennings was in a coma. Her face was deathly pale, and she was hooked up to monitors typically used for critically ill patients. An IV line was inserted into the back of her hand.
"My daughter, Iris, what's wrong? Don't scare Mommy…"
Shelly Sterling held Iris Jennings's other hand, afraid to squeeze too tightly.
The commotion they made drew the attention of the doctor and nurse on duty.
Shelly Sterling immediately grabbed the doctor and demanded to know about Iris Jennings's condition.
