Noticing the rain had eased up, Skylar Morrison tried to drive the car to level ground to wait. But he had only gone fifty meters when the car suddenly lurched to a halt, startling both Rosalind Lowell and Jessica Sutton.
"It's broken down," Skylar Morrison said, slapping the steering wheel.
Alaric Davenport frowned, pulling out his phone. He tried to make a couple of calls for backup, but there was no signal in the mountains.
Rosalind Lowell watched the rain, her thoughts on Elsa Ainsworth and the others still trapped inside. She prayed they were all right.
Suddenly, her phone chimed. She pulled it out to see a message from Elsa Ainsworth. "Sherry sent a text."
"What does it say?" Alaric Davenport asked.
"There was a landslide. They split up to find a path and got separated. She's with Ethan Lockwood now, and they're safe for the time being." Rosalind's brow furrowed. 'I knew I had a bad feeling about this.'
