Alaric Davenport's free hand hung awkwardly at his side. He was grappling with a tangle of emotions, unable to think clearly. In the end, all he could manage was, "Go take a shower."
He turned, pulled a file from a drawer, tossed it to her, and then headed into the walk-in closet to get a change of clothes.
Rosalind Lowell held the folder, at a loss. 'What's inside?' she wondered. 'Divorce papers?'
She opened it carefully. The cover read: Studio Business Plan Proposal.
Rosalind Lowell's eyes widened. She hadn't expected him to put so much thought into this.
Her heart stirred.

「The next morning.」
Rosalind Lowell was at her studio when Skylar Morrison arrived.
"I got permission to come," Skylar Morrison said with a charming smile. "From Alaric, I mean."
He'd been laid up for half a month, but he was a fast healer. The doctor had said he'd be fine as long as he avoided strenuous exercise, so he decided to come over when he heard her studio had opened.
"Thank you."
