Lianne opened the food containers and ladled out two bowls of "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall" seafood congee. She placed one in front of Seth and the other in front of herself.
Seth sat there like he owned the place, watching her with a leisurely air.
Lianne grew uncomfortable under his gaze. "What are you looking at?"
Seth said lazily, "Just checking if the little fairy is still mad."
"I'm not mad." Lianne lowered her head and drank her milk. The warm liquid slid down her throat and into her stomach, spreading a gentle warmth.
"Not mad about what?" The corners of Seth's eyes crinkled as he watched her nonchalantly. "About me waking you up, or about me kissing you?"
His hand rested on the table, fingers long and slender. The line of his powerful wrist was stark and smooth, possessing an ineffable, artistic beauty.
Lianne's gaze traveled upward to the man's dark, bottomless eyes, which held a faint smile. They were like abysses, hiding a formidable power.
