It wasn't until the 200-plus survivors were shoveling large bowls of white rice into their mouths, chewing, and swallowing that the delicious aroma finally convinced them this was all real.
Some of the original survivors came over, curious, and started asking questions:
"You're new here?"
"Yeah? What job did they assign you?"
"Come help us polish bullets."
"Yeah, the base has been going through ammo pretty fast lately, so we're swamped."
"..."
Listening to the original survivors, many of the newcomers asked in confusion:
"How can you all still be so happy?"
"You're wearing electronic shackles too!"
"..."
To them, this didn't make sense. They should have been angry, desperate to escape.
But here these people were, discussing their work with such enthusiasm?
But when the original survivors heard this, they all just laughed.
"We get three full meals a day. What's there to be unhappy about?"
"Without these shackles, you'd be starving out there!"
