"Director Ding, Headquarters may be overestimating me. My ability is limited to mechanical engineering. While I can research and build Mecha, Prosthetic Bodies, and some special weapons, things like spacecraft and rockets are far beyond my scope."
Lin Qi wasn't lying. Spacecraft, rockets, and the like were completely outside the scope of Liu's Heavy Industries' operations.
Or rather, this was beyond the research capabilities of a typical large corporation. Generally, only an Intercontinental Giant Corporation would have the financial and technological resources to research such things.
Not every major corporation was completely devoid of research in this area, however. For example, when Lin Qi worked at the Weapon Research Institute, he'd heard that one corporation was researching a space-flight-capable Prosthetic Body—the kind that would let a person walk on the moon just by equipping it.
