Wherever she passed, pedestrians instinctively parted to make way, yet few paid her any special notice. It was as if she were just an inconspicuous wisp of evening breeze, too ordinary to warrant a second glance.
Her gaze casually swept over the signs on both sides of the street. With the slightest twitch of her ears, she could hear the surrounding chatter with perfect clarity.
To her surprise, the townspeople weren't complaining about their lives or their lot in the world. Instead, the most common phrase on their lips was "the great Lord Lynch," and their tone was filled with reverence and adoration whenever they mentioned him.
After him, the name the townspeople mentioned most was "Lord Aus," usually in relation to trivial matters of municipal administration and resource allocation, but their tone was equally respectful.
Occasionally, she would also catch some good-natured teasing and praise for a "Miss Sea Song."
