"Let me see!"
Fritz didn't know where he found the courage. Perhaps it was gratitude for the care, however small, that Golden Fang had shown him these past days. Or perhaps it was the bond forged over half a roasted chicken and some ale. He rushed forward, pushing through the panicked Kobolds and crouching beside the mother in labor.
He forced himself to calm down and began racking his brain, trying to recall every bit of knowledge he had ever learned or overheard.
'I think I vaguely remember hearing something at court... about certain noblewomen who had difficult births...'
'That's it!'
A bold and dangerous idea surfaced in his mind.
"Golden Fang! The dagger! Give me your dagger!" Fritz yelled urgently at the frantic Kobold. "Quick, go find a Priest! As fast as you can! There might still be a chance to save your mate!"
At these words, a glimmer of hope suddenly lit up Golden Fang's eyes.
