But just as the Lord thought some earth-shattering, terrifying creature was about to emerge, the fierce light vanished without a trace in a matter of heartbeats.

He couldn't quite describe his emotions—a mix of both joy and disappointment.
He was disappointed that the Stone Egg he had so eagerly awaited was apparently a dud, yet he also felt a sense of relief. Compared to hatching some uncontrollable creature, a dead egg seemed like a better end result.
