Chapter 80 - Way back home

They had to wait for some more time for the trucks to arrive and in the meantime Arjun saw a wobbling Sergei come along with another couple Russians in his tow and wondered what it was about and then remembered that Vladimir had promised to send some experienced Russian workers and assumed they were them.

Just as he expected Sergei came to them and introduced the other two Russians as his new employees, they had arrived in the ship and had gone ahead to take some rest in the nearby hotel and Sergei had gone to fetch them after their drinking session.

Right at the same time their transport trucks had arrived and Arjun hired a couple temporary local workers working on site to do the loading job and handed them some juicy tip once they were done with the job.

Once they were out of the port Arjun made Bhargav accompany the trucks to the village and since it would take at least a day for the trucks to reach their village Arjun did not want to take any extra risks regarding the shipment.

After they left Arjun wanted to go back and rest since they had to leave early in the morning the next day to catch up with the trucks but Sergei pulled him aside and asked for some more drinks as he was too tired with the long ship journey and wanted to relax for a bit.

Arjun thought for a while and made Balram drive to their hotel Taj since it had an in hotel bar too. Arjun did not want to make Balram to drive after getting drunk which he was sure Sergei would make him do after their prior interaction, he understood what sort of a guy this captain was.

The five of them then proceeded to the bar where Arjun ordered a couple bottles of imported whiskey as Sergei did not want to drink vodka which they were normally famous for saying he already had too many bottles in his ship cabinet.

Arjun then informed the workers and Balram that they had to leave early in the morning and requested them to not drink too much and made up an excuse to return to his room and made an escape from the bar. After all he was already receiving weird stares from the people around and the respect these people were giving him did not help his cause one bit.

Once he laid down on his bed however Arjun could not get sleep as it was still early in the evening and his mind was filled with the future plans regarding the factory assembly and product advertising. To get his mind of these stuff which he was sure he could think about for another month and still have stuff remaining to ponder about Arjun proceeded to get out of the hotel for some fresh air and took a couple of walks along the beach road.

With the day being a Sunday, the beach was much more crowded than usual but Arjun did not really care about it and even enjoyed the experience as their village beach was empty most of the time.

Arjun actually wanted to go to the nearby hill station Araku but he was worried about the road conditions especially on hilly roads and decided to postpone his plans for another day. He went to a nearby stall to have some local made Dosas for dinner and returned to the hotel by eight in the evening, When Arjun went to the bar he could still see those folks drinking and quickly went away before one of them could spot him.

He returned to the room and tossed and turned for a while but still could not catch sleep which made him go to the in hotel spa for a massage after which he felt much more relaxed and went to sleep peacefully.

Arjun woke up early in the morning the next day before even the sunrise and quickly got refreshed and went ahead and knocked Balram's door but no body opened the door which made Arjun curse about being unable to drink alongside them a couple times after which he proceeded to the hotel lobby and ordered a couple of butter milks to be delivered to Balram's room as he was sure this bulky man would absolutely need them once wakes up.

He returned to his room and watched the TV for a while, although it was only Telugu songs Arjun still enjoyed listening and watching them as he rarely had the chance and time to watch some television after his rebirth.

Balram knocked Arjun's door after half an hour and apologized for the delay and thanked him for the buttermilk. Arjun asked him to quickly get ready for the drive and wake the others up as they too slept in Balram's room after their drinking session previous day.

By the time Balram and the others had freshened up it was already past seven in the morning all of the Arjun's plans for early morning ride. Arjun then approached the reception to pay the due but when Balram heard the rate his fuses got blown away as their drinking session alone cost over ten thousand rupees and hung his head low while the Russian's not understanding his predicament still gave silly smiles. Arjun gave a sigh and paid the bill not minding it since it was not a daily expense anyway.

They then dropped off Sergei at his hotel and picked the other's luggage after which they began their journey back which felt much more hectic than their earlier trip as Balram was not as experienced at driving as Bhargav was and was even half drunk.

By the time it was nine they had not even travelled hundred km but Arjun was already hungry since he had a very light dinner the earlier night so he made Balram stop at the nearby local tiffin center where Arjun made the two Russians try the Indian cuisine for the first time which they were full of praise about since most of their food back home was mostly bland but they still requested Arjun to get some bread if he could at the village to which Arjun did not make any solid promises and only mentioned he would do his best to accommodate. After all he had already spent plenty on these people and did not want to appear as a push over.

Once they were done with the breakfast they quickly hit the road after which Arjun played some local tracks enjoying the surrounding green paddy fields. Even though it was summer this area known as India's rice bowl was full of greenery thanks to the occasional rains and plenty of ground water.

Arjun knew most of these paddy fields would be replaced by the more rewarding cash crops of Palm oil and similar fields in the future and wanted to enjoy the view before it gets ruined. The two Russians too were amazed by the view since as far as they could see the land was filled with small rivers and paddy fields which was a much different experience to them compared to back home.

On route Arjun saw a farmer selling some ice fruits on the roadside, made Balram stop the car to get some for them and some for his family back home. The Russians meanwhile saw the guy selling some white liquid on the side and enquired Arjun what that was to which Arjun could only lament about his luck and informed them it was Palm wine which made their eyes light up so he could only grit his teeth and buy a liter of palm wine for these fellas.

Once they tried the palm wine they instantly fell in love with it and even Arjun had a couple sips of it since it was completely natural wine and Balram too did not raise any objections since it was common for kids to consume this at homes too although in lesser quantities.

By the time it was one in the noon Arjun's belly was already ringing so he made Balram stop at the nearby mess where he made the Russian's try out the Andhra meals which they liked too but if there was something to complain about it was eating with their hands. Arjun and Balram tried their hardest to control their laughter seeing these adult men try to eat the rice clumsily with their hands, since this was remote and small mess they did not have any spoons to offer either.

Once they were done with the lunch the two quickly fell to sleep in the back seats which made Arjun take a sigh of relief and he too drifted to sleep as the view although beautiful was quite monotonous in itself.

By the time he woke up he could see the sun setting and they were already very nearby, only fifty kilo meters from their village and the two in the back seats were still asleep.
