Chapter 53 - Filtering the resume

Even though Arjun was slowly becoming provider for their family Pratap paid no attention to it, after all this was his kid. If there was some regret it was about not being able to provide his family the luxuries Arjun was slowly purchasing. Had it not been for that incident... Pratap got lost in his thoughts and soon returned to the double room they were lodging at to get some sleep for himself. After all tomorrow was going to be even busier.

The next day Arjun had already learnt his lesson and did not wake early and slept till nine. They went ahead to meet with Tharun at the union. Even though agency was much higher in the priority list since Arjun had been there early multiple times already he decided to go there late for once.

Tharun seeing Arjun invited him to his chamber where he got introduced his father. Tharun did not expect this kid's father to be a simple government clerk and his respect for Arjun went up a notch.

When he wanted to invite Vikram for the introduction Pratap rejected and asked more about the current sales situation as they had to prepare to stop the production in the upcoming two days.

This time's delivery was delayed for a couple days which Arjun apologized for but since it was going to be final shipment of another fifteen thousand All in Ones Tharun did not mind as the sales were already doing well and they could afford a couple days of delay.

Arjun invited both Tharun and Vikram to the meet they were going to hold in a few weeks and repeated not to forget coming as this was when he promised to settle their accounts which made Tharun's eyes light up. Finally some money was coming their way, Although he was seeing numbers which he never had access to before it was very tough for them to just transfer all of them to Arjun. But it had to be done since it was part of their agreement.

They then headed to the Agency where the secretary was already waiting for Arjun's visit. The new factory was going to employ around fifty workers, five operators, a couple maintenance people, around three to four supervisors and four managers for stuff life Quality control, Accounts, Production and distribution sectors.

Arjun had his own plans for workers as he wanted to hire all of them from his own village. After all if they could employ around fifty to hundred people that would mean employing around five percent of their entire village which would de facto guarantee the safety of their factory.

As for the operators Arjun wanted to hire a couple already experienced ones and choose some from the village staff as Vladimir had already promised to bring along two to three experienced operators who would teach these people the machinery operations.

The major issue was finding trustable managers as well as supervisors. Especially supervisors as most of the supervisors in this period were very well known for their work place discrimination which Arjun did not want in his own factory. For this finding a proper Production manager was very essential.

The agency only had five resumes of people who were experienced in this position and most of them were already very old. Even though their experience could come in handy Arjun felt they might be too old fashioned to implement the employee treatment plans he wanted to achieve.

The only guy who was much more younger was Srikanth Reddy who was only thirty five years old and had already worked as assistant manager at two other companies and was looking for a promotion.

One good thing about this guy different from others was he had a B.Sc degree in Food and nutrition so his qualifications were very suitable for this position but Arjun decided to take his final decision after meeting the guy and asked to call him for an interview in the upcoming weekend.

Quality control manager was another issue as they were not many younger people present in this field forcing Arjun to call three of the best resumes for the interview but all of them were over fifty in age and it was a huge question if they were willing to relocate to the village.

As for the Accounts manager and Sales manager positions Arjun had another name in his mind but was not sure if he would be willing to leave his current job as Madan was getting his ticket soon and Bhargav would be almost indispensable to Madan in the campaign, Arjun wanted to seek for Madan's opinion before approaching Bhargav, so he invited top three resumes from them to come for the interview too.

Maintenance staff were much more easier to deal with as there were many experienced electricians or mechanics who wanted to get higher salaries and did not mind moving elsewhere as mentioned in their resume. Arjun wanted the secretary to invite top five resumes in the upcoming interview.

Supervisors were also easier to handle since most of the resumes they received were of very experienced workers who were looking for a promotion or newly graduated diploma holders.

Arjun wanted o hire the newly graduated folks but felt it would do a disservice to the people who spent their entire life toiling for a factory and new more about worker satisfaction and management way more than the graduated ever could.

He was very undecisive in this and explained his thoughts to Pratap who suggested meeting them before making the decision which Arjun quickly accepted and informed the secretary about the same.

After they were done they headed to have their lunch at the same place as yesterday which Pratap loved very much. But Pratap's thoughts were still in the agency and how his son handled the recruitment procedures and choosing the right resume for the positions. Pratap felt even he might not be able to do better job than his son.

Once they were done they headed to pickup Balram from his home to come back to hotel to pick up their stuff. Since they came in a jeep Balram was handed the jeep while Pratap was driving their new car.

Even though Balram did not want to shift much of the luggage, Lalitha managed to fill both jeep and the car with all the packaging which irked Pratap quite a lot since it was their new car but Arjun did not really mind much about it as cars were bound to get dirty. Especially during these times when roads were horrendous and Arjun was pretty sure their white car would turn semi brown by the time they reached their village.

This made him rethink about his choice of a white car but he wasn't willing to go for other colors as the white ambassador was a very iconic model even much into the future. It was very renowned for its strong body making even many political leaders use it.

On their way Arjun wanted to stop at the village where they had been struck at previously but since it was already getting late they decided to go ahead to their village without stopping.

By the time they reached their village it was already late in the evening. Even though Balram wanted to stay in a different house upon Lalitha's insistence he had to adjust and stay with his sister for a while till the factory gets started as Arjun had promised him a stay once the factory becomes operational.

Pratap and Arjun together with Balram started unloading his stuff from jeep and car and shifting them inside Lalli's house. hearing all the ruckus from the house next door Sari came running out to see what was going on.

Seeing her brother and father back she hurried to hug Arjun and asked for her surprise to which Arjun just shushed her and went along with the unloading.

Soon they were done with the unloading and Lalli invited Pratap to have some chai before they return as a way of saying thank you which Pratap accepted and went along. Meanwhile Sari introduced herself to the new guy and got to know his name as Balram and that he was Lalitha's brother so she started calling him Big brother.

Balram started liking this kid as soon as she began talking to her, He had regretted many times about missing his sister growing up and seeing another kid who was of a similar age to her when he left to military Balram could not control his emotions well but still managed to hide them and played along with his new small sister.

Balram was already beginning to trust what Lalitha had said about Arjun and his family. He had his own doubts when Lalitha explained about her life in the village to Balram but seeing with his own eyes Balram had nothing much left to say.

Pratap and Arjun had their tea and invited the brother and sister duo to dinner as celebration for the car purchase and left on their way.
