An hour had passed by the time Jasper Sherwood returned to his room.
Zane Wyatt had grown sleepy waiting for him.
He didn't stir until he heard a knock at the door. Seeing Jasper Sherwood standing outside, he glanced down at Jasper's empty hands and asked uncertainly, "Where's the water you promised to buy me?"
Jasper Sherwood sidestepped him and walked into the room. "I walked two whole blocks," he said nonchalantly, "and couldn't find that 'Impulse' you wanted."
Zane Wyatt: "???"
He hurried after Jasper Sherwood. "Did I say 'Impulse'? I clearly said 'Propulse'!"
"Did you?" Jasper Sherwood replied from the bed, unconcerned. "You must have slurred your words, and I misheard you."
Zane Wyatt: "..."
'What a piece of work.'
'He's the one with the hearing problem, but he blames me for misspeaking.'
His face tightened. He went and sat on the other bed, clearly fuming.
