"Nina, come here. Briefly, tell me what happened." Mr. Donovan sat by Ian's bedside, beckoning to Nina.
Nina stopped talking to Lily and instead gave their father a brief summary of Ian's situation. She explained that he had gone up the mountain to rescue Leon Grant and Vivian Sterling—she didn't hide that part. As for the finer details, Nina didn't know them. They would have to ask Ian himself to find out more.
Lily Donovan stood woodenly by the door, her rounded fingernails digging anxiously into her palm, again and again. Head bowed, she remained frozen to the spot.
Her phone vibrated again, and Lily Donovan flinched.
Isaac Huxley: [Don't make me come and find you myself.]
The color drained from Lily Donovan's lips. The thought of Isaac Huxley's methods made her tremble uncontrollably.
Her strange reaction quickly caught Nina Donovan's attention.
Nina Donovan frowned. "Lily, are you okay?"
