After the resentment faded, panic flooded Vivian Sterling's heart once more.
She had thought that if she just humbled herself, Leon Grant would have a change of heart.
After all, she had only gotten sick and fainted, and he had been so anxious he'd taken her to the nurse's office. When she called him later, he even came to keep her company.
But something between them was clearly changing. The old Leon was so domineering; if she was sick and refused to take her medicine, he would watch over her all day until she finally took it.
That day, however, even though Leon was physically in the nurse's office, his mind had wandered off somewhere else. He was obviously distracted. When Vivian spoke to him, he would just give a few half-hearted replies.
She thought things would gradually get better, but now, he wanted to draw a clear line between them.
If she failed to complete the mission of winning Leon Grant back as instructed, did that mean she couldn't change her own destiny?
