Nina Donovan walked Lily Donovan to her room and then left.
It wasn't a good time to chat, anyway. Lily probably had a lot on her mind.
It was already ten-thirty by the time she got back to her room.
Her last message was from nine-forty. Milo Morgan hadn't replied.
Nina rolled around on her bed twice, realizing it had been a long time since they had last spoken on the phone.
On a whim, she started a voice call with him.
But a second later, he hung up.
Nina: "?"
Furious, Nina was about to demand an explanation. 'This is the first time he's ever not answered.' Just as she was about to type, a message popped up from him.
Vernal: [Showering.]
Nina: "..."
She felt like he was just blowing her off.
Sonnet: [Let me see?]
Far away in his rental apartment, Jasper Sherwood was speechless. "..."
He looked up at the showerhead, then at the mirror, fogged up with steam.
He stepped forward and wiped it with his hand, quickly revealing his bare arm in the reflection.
