—Sonia, come downstairs.
After texting with Sonia Quincy so much, Renee Sinclair now only had to send the two words "come downstairs" to get her message across.
By the same token, Sonia now only needed to see those two words to know what Renee wanted.
"Felix?" Sonia asked, phone in hand, as she walked to the bathroom door and knocked.
The sound of the water suddenly stopped, and Felix's gentle voice drifted out. "What is it?"
Sonia told yet another little lie. "My delivery is here. I'm just going downstairs to grab it."
"Delivery?" Felix sounded a little confused. "When did you order something? What is it?"
Sonia said, "Just some daily necessities. Tissues, toothpaste, facial wipes... We were running out here in the room, you know."
Felix asked, "Did you buy a lot? We'll be heading home in a couple of days."
Sonia shook her head at the glass door. "I didn't get much, just enough to last us the next few days. It's light. I can get it by myself."
