Folk tradition dictated that visits to friends and family began on the second day of the New Year.
The Ming Family had long since lost touch with most of their relatives. Even if they had any left, they had gradually fallen out of contact after Father Ming moved to Jiangnan to live in seclusion.
However, having settled in a new place, they had made new friends, and in a few days, they would still need to pay them short visits.
None of this had much to do with Ming Lingyi. She was never fond of such social gatherings, and Father Ming and Mrs. Ming had no intention of bringing her along. Li Yan, on the other hand, found everything about Jiangnan fresh and exciting.
He didn't pester Ming Lingyi, but instead turned his pleading eyes to his uncle.
What could Ming Chengyu do? He let him have his way, of course.
And so, Ming Lingyi was left as the most idle person in the house.
