Shirley Thorne hadn't finished her pig trotter, so while Katherine Kane was going on and on, she had no intention of interrupting. She just wanted to listen quietly, occasionally pouring herself a cup of tea.
The problem was, Miss Katherine's reading comprehension was so bad it was as if she'd been taught by a gym teacher. She was basically incapable of understanding a newspaper headline.
Katherine Kane: "My mother loves the guzheng, so I grew up around it and started learning very early."
Ethan Grant: "What year?"
"Huh?"
Katherine Kane paused, stunned for a moment, then smiled. "It was probably around the year xxxx!"
'Why would Ethan ask that?'
'Was there some special story attached to the year she started learning the guzheng?'
'Like a chance meeting... a fateful encounter...'
"He's asking how old you were when you started learning the guzheng!"
Shirley Thorne explained as she poured a glass of sweet wine. It helped cut the richness of the pig trotter.
