Chapter 344 - The Finale

Translator: AnubisTL

"You big-winged lizard! Do you dare come down and face my blade?!"

The Vicious Wolf General slaughtered the surrounding monsters, his furious battle cry erupting from the slits of his helmet. The roar soared into the sky, carrying undisguised provocation and battle intent.

The moment this voice was heard, three pairs of cold dragon eyes instantly locked onto the small yet exceptionally conspicuous figure on the ground.

It wasn't that the Ignis Dragon Clan was enraged by the provocation of a lesser being—they had long since ceased to be affected by such petty tricks. Their focus was born of a silent consensus.

This rune knight had demonstrated strength far beyond that of an ordinary boss, posing an extremely high threat level. If left unchecked, he could inflict immeasurable losses upon the Ironforged Tribe's chosen army. Moreover, dragonkind did not shun soldier-to-soldier or general-to-general combat; slaughtering mere pawns had grown tedious.

"I'll deal with him!"

The White Dragon Treacy's eyes gleamed with anticipation as she eagerly volunteered.

Though the rune knight's combat prowess was formidable—slicing through lower-tier monsters like a knife through butter—it did not change the fact that he was still a human. And so far, he had shown no strength that could rival the great dragons.

Treacy believed her ecological niche was superior to the rune knight's, and thus she should be able to crush him.

Whoosh—!

She snapped her wings shut, diving toward the rune knight on the ground like a frost arrow released from its bow.

On the ground, Rhode the rune knight took a deep breath as he faced the white dragon descending upon him, bringing with it a bone-chilling cold and terrifying wind pressure.

The runes inscribed on his armor, the greatsword in his hand, and the shield on his back all suddenly lit up, turning a blinding flame-red, like burning metal.

Flame Rune!

Colossal Form!

Rhode's body, along with all his equipment, began to swell and grow.

Raging flames erupted from his skin, enveloping him. The greatsword in his hand turned a scorching red, like a branding iron fresh from the furnace.

In an instant, he seemed to have transformed into a fire giant rather than a mere human.

His gaze was murderous, his muscles taut. Gripping the blazing greatsword, he aimed to deliver a fatal blow—or at the very least, a crippling one—the moment the white dragon reached its lowest point in the dive.

Yet, something completely unexpected happened, leaving the rune knight frozen in place.

At the very moment his aura surged violently and he transformed into a fire giant through the Giant Rune and Flame Rune, the white dragon—which had been charging at him with a ferocity that seemed poised to crush him—didn't hesitate for a single second. It abruptly banked its wings to the side, carving an impossibly agile arc in the sky, and then... without a single backward glance, decisively retreated.

That was close! This guy has been hiding his true strength all along!

His power level just spiked so much that I'm probably no match for him now.

White Dragon Treacy flapped her wings to gain altitude, her heart still pounding. She thanked her luck for her quick reactions and sharp instincts; otherwise, that reckless dive would have surely left her severely wounded.

Red Dragon Samantha's dissatisfied roar rolled in like thunder: "You white-scaled waste! To be scared off by a mere human and flee without a fight—don't you think you're bringing shame upon the dragon race?!"

I don't think so, Treacy replied in her mind without hesitation. Saving my life is far more important than saving face.

"This human is no simple foe. We cannot afford to be careless. Attack together—slay him!"

Iron Dragon Solgorn's voice, calm yet brimming with murderous intent, echoed in the minds of the other two dragons.

The next instant, the iron dragon and the red dragon descended from left and right, closing in like two guillotines of death, their movements perfectly synchronized as they charged the Vicious Wolf General on the ground.

Seeing them both strike, White Dragon Treacy felt her own standing in the hierarchy rise. Courage surged within her. She unleashed a thunderous roar and joined the assault.

Beneath the deep night sky, the three dragons hung like a celestial blade of judgment, their cold gazes locked onto the figure wreathed in flames below.

Iron Dragon Solgorn struck first.

He tucked his massive wings, his colossal body tearing through the air. Mimicking a falling star, a tactic he'd seen a blood-kin brother use, he hurled his own immense weight downward as a living weapon.

Red Dragon Samantha followed close behind.

She flew low, skimming the ground. Instead of a direct blast, her searing dragon breath trailed behind her like a brushstroke, painting a ring of raging fire that trapped Rhode within a furnace of lethal heat.

Meanwhile, the White Dragon Treacy soared high above, the icy blue glow in her throat surging violently as her frost breath charged, sealing off any possible escape.

Against such a coordinated, inescapable assault, any ordinary warrior would have stood no chance.

But the Vicious Wolf General was a veteran who had clawed his way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. Having faced death countless times, he was no mere soldier. In a flash, a counter-strategy formed.

BOOM—!

The Iron Dragon slammed into the ground like a true meteor, causing the earth to cave in. Waves of soil and shattered stone erupted into the sky.

Yet, a split second before impact, the wind runes on Rhode's boots flared. His speed surged, and he narrowly avoided the devastating central blast.

Using the momentum, he leaped into the air. The greatshield in his hand, which had been wreathed in flames, instantly turned a deep, icy blue. The frost runes on it pulsed violently, emitting a bone-chilling cold.

He curled his body behind the suddenly materialized frost shield, like a traveler braving a blizzard, and forced his way through the ring of fire formed by the Red Dragon's breath.

Whoosh—!

How could the White Dragon Treacy, circling high above, miss such an opportunity? Her fully charged frost breath poured down like a bursting ice dam.

The Vicious Wolf General remained calm in the face of death. He raised his still-glowing greatsword, and with a thunderous roar, a blade of scorching qi as solid as steel tore through the air, meeting the lethal torrent of ice head-on.

Fire and ice collided violently in mid-air, sending a thick white mist billowing across the battlefield as the air hissed and crackled.

Through his masterful and instantaneous switching between different elemental runes, the Vicious Wolf General had miraculously neutralized the first wave of the three dragons' combined assault.

But this was only the beginning.

A more ferocious, relentless onslaught followed.

An invisible dragon's roar exploded directly within his mind.

The mental shock caused his movements to falter, if only for a fraction of a second.

In that fleeting moment of disorientation, the Iron Dragon Solgorn's massive, armored body had already closed the distance. Its raised claw, wreathed in a gale of air-tearing force, swung down toward his head.

Rhode's pupils constricted.

The flames and frost swirling around him vanished instantly, replaced by an earthy yellow glow as heavy and solid as a mountain.

His muscles bulged as he raised his colossal runic greatsword to block the blow with all his might.

CLANG—!!!

A metallic roar, more piercing than a thunderclap, swept across the battlefield. A visible shockwave erupted in a perfect circle, blasting away every creature caught in the melee, friend and foe alike.

Solgorn's claw, a strike capable of shattering city walls, had been stopped dead.
