"Audacious evil dragon!"
A furious roar, accompanied by the thunderous crash of a warhammer against the ground, erupted from the center of the mine. A dwarf commander's beard whipped wildly in the wind.
"Let it taste Blackrock's artillery!"
He roared the command to fire.
Simultaneously, ten multi-barrel steam crossbows embedded in the earth roared to life.
These three-story-tall killing machines, driven by adamantine gears, had each fine steel arm wrapped with dragon-lizard tendons soaked in whale oil.
Dozens of barrels rotated in unison, unleashing a storm of armor-piercing bolts that wove a deathly domain in the air.
The heavy anti-air cannons followed, their magic energy stones glowing brilliantly as their massive muzzles spat forth solidified energy spheres.
Yet the dragon descending from the sky didn't even attempt to dodge.
He merely avoided the attacks aimed at his vital spots, allowing the rest to strike his body.
The bolts shattered against his chest-plate-like crimson scales, exploding not in blood, but in blinding sparks.
The dwarf gunners watched in horror as the arrowheads twisted and snapped.
The weapons that could pierce a wyrm's heart now crumbled like fragile ice cones against a steel plate. Then, the Magic Energy Cannons struck the red-iron dragon, causing his massive body to sway slightly as his scales cracked and shattered.
"Why does this dragon look so familiar?"
"It's him! The Ominous Star of Death!"
"How many years has it been?! He's grown even stronger and returned for revenge!"
The dwarf alchemist's heart trembled violently as he recognized Garos.
The little dragons, ignoring their injuries, all propped themselves up and gazed skyward.
Under the world's gaze, the red-iron dragon folded its wings.
Frenzy state! Activate!
Sizzle! Sizzle! Dense, shimmering golden lightning erupted from the red-iron dragon's body. His already immense frame swelled by a full circle before he plummeted earthward in a straight, terrifying line, as if piercing the very ground itself.
Boom!
The impact shook the heavens and earth, sending countless lightning-like cracks racing across the surface.
Wild winds, shockwaves, and debris churned in a chaotic storm, instantly obliterating the steam crossbow array.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Before the dwarf guards could even react, the golden-frenzied red-iron dragon unfurled his wings and hovered in the air.
The ferocious, earth-shattering impact hadn't left him even a moment of dazed inertia.
He took a deep breath, opened his dragon's maw, and unleashed a torrent of flame and lightning. Spherical blasts of dragon breath, blazing like both fire and thunder, tore through the dust-choked air, striking each steam crossbow and Magic Energy Cannon with deadly precision.
Boom!
The earth trembled, engines roared, and the Blackrock Principality's war golems, the "Son of the Mountains," activated.
Three colossal figures, forged from metal and steel, leaped into the air, propelled by fiery jets from their backs. Their fist-like heads, resembling siege hammers, charged toward the red-iron dragon, the runes embedded in their knuckles glowing like miniature suns.
Crash!!!
The instant Garos's right claw collided with a golem's iron fist, the shockwave shattered every pane of glass in the mine.
The red-iron dragon's raptor-like claw dug into the golem's arm plating, its sinewous muscles tightening like steel cables.
Riiip—! The entire golem arm was ripped from its socket!
Garos swung the heavy metal limb in a windmill motion, smashing it into the second golem's head. The collision of the two giants was like an avalanche, scattering gears and debris that sliced through the dwarf heavy infantry who couldn't evade in time.
The third Son of the Mountains transformed its arm into a warhammer, swinging from behind to shatter the red-iron dragon's spine.
The dragon's tail, its scales interlocking like a colossal blade, swept with lightning speed, cleaving the golem's chest in two.
The Son of the Mountains were merely the beginning.
One golem after another charged toward the red-iron dragon, followed by the brave, heavily armored dwarf warriors.
These "iron fortresses," their full plate armor revealing only their eyes, charged toward the dragon, rotating saw blades emerging from the edges of their tower shields, while their battle axes crackled with runic lightning.
When the first rank of Serrated Shield Formation clashed against the dragon's scales, the red-iron dragon's chest, expanding with a deep breath, crushed the front-rank dwarves into bloody meat paste. Its tail swept through the air, whipping up a crimson storm of metal as the flying dwarves collapsed the Ore Refining Tower. Molten iron cascaded down like a waterfall into the crowd.
An invisible arm of dragon qi burst the heads of golems that charged from the flanks.
A brave warrior seized the opportunity to leap onto the dragon's back and hack at its neck. His battle axe shattered the Cold Exploding Scale, but the frigid aura permeating the air slowed his movements. He was impaled by the dragon's protruding thorn spikes.
With rapid claw sweeps, tail strikes, and wing slashes, the red-iron dragon endured the onslaught from all directions while counterattacking with unstoppable force, dismembering golems and crushing dwarf warriors.
None of the chromite mine's defenders could stand against the rampaging red-iron dragon.
When another golem was cleaved in two by a spinning wing slash, the dwarf defenders' morale completely collapsed. Most abandoned their attack, scattering in all directions like rock rats.
But two massive dragon shadows descended from the sky, blocking the main escape routes and sealing off the mine.
The fleeing remnants—soldiers and low-level alchemy golems—could not break through the interception, torn apart by claws and fangs or engulfed by dragon breath.
"Crawler, how do you feel now?" the black dragon asked, his voice dripping with malice.
The dwarf sorcerer's face turned ashen. He tried to manipulate the chains to kill all the little dragons, or at least take a few down with him.
But the runes on the chains had only just begun to glow.
Boom!
The ground trembled violently, and the sound of a heavy object crashing down echoed behind him.
He whirled around in terror and saw the formidable red-iron dragon gazing down at him with cold eyes. Behind the dragon burned raging flames, scorching the earth and leaving behind a scene of charred remains, wreckage, and ruins.
Neither the heavy defensive weapons, the alchemy golems, nor the heavily armored warriors had been able to impede its progress. They had all been shattered and torn apart.
"Twenty years... Red-iron dragon, finally..."
The dwarf sorcerer's expression shifted, finally hardening into one of grim determination as magic energy surged through his body.
But before he could finish his words or launch an attack, the red-iron dragon raised its claw and brought it down, crushing him into a radial splatter of gore under the watchful, awestruck eyes of the surrounding little dragons.
"He seemed about to say something? It doesn't matter. He was nothing but an insignificant insect."
Having never faced him directly, Garos felt no particular impression of the dwarf sorcerer. He crushed the man like an insect, his emotions as flat as a still pond.
