Matteo went quiet for a moment, processing it.
"That's what happened?" he asked.
Adrian nodded. "Yes. That's the truth. He made sure I felt like an outsider in your life."
Matteo let out a frustrated sigh. "Rian, I'm sorry. I had no idea he treated you like that."
Adrian scoffed, looking away. "Why are you the one apologizing? You're not the one who did anything wrong—he is."
He walked over to the sofa and sat down, his gaze lingering on Matteo for a moment.
"You know… I used to think there was something between you and Tony."
Matteo's lips curved into a smirk. He walked over and climbed onto Adrian's lap, settling across his thighs so he could look him in the eye.
"I already told you, he's my right-hand man and my friend."
Adrian frowned slightly. "I know, but it's just… hard to believe sometimes, with the way he acts."
