"Ugh..."
Inside the freezing cold house,
Ethan, the protagonist of the seventh and eighth installments, finally slowly regained consciousness from his coma, groaning as he woke.
His entire body was wracked with soreness and his head felt heavy and groggy. Ethan struggled to open his eyes, only to be met with a field of pure white.
His fingers, covered in white snow, had turned a passive, bright red from the cold.
Yet Ethan himself couldn't feel much pain.
There was no doubt... his body had been completely infected by the Mold, and his perception of pain had been significantly dulled.
"Where... where is this...?!"
Just as he opened his eyes, Ethan looked at his surroundings, his face grim as he muttered in confusion.
His head was spinning and his body hurt, but the chaotic memories in his mind gradually began to surface.
He remembered that just the day before, he was living happily with his wife Mia in a small town in Romania, and they even had a lovely daughter, Rosemary Winters.
But unexpectedly...
A nightmare suddenly descended one day.
A squad of soldiers suddenly burst into his home; gunfire erupted, and sparks flew everywhere.
His beautiful little home was completely destroyed, his beloved wife Mia was gunned down, and even his precious daughter was snatched away.
What Ethan found most unbelievable was, the military unit that broke into his house was none other than the BSAA, and the captain leading them was Chris, a senior acquaintance of his.
He couldn't believe why the friend he once trusted most would attack him!
Enraged, Ethan wanted to take back his daughter Rose, but severely injured, he couldn't help but lapse into unconsciousness.
And finally, when he woke up, he suddenly found himself in the middle of this vast expanse of white snow...!
Volume 10: Resident Evil Village, Vengeance: Chapter 12: First Signs
The year 2017...
Ethan suddenly received an email from his wife, Mia Winters, who had been missing for three years. Harboring doubts, he decided to investigate.
Following the content of the email, Ethan drove to the Baker Ranch located in the Dulvey region of Louisiana.
But what awaited him was a nightmare.
Ethan found his imprisoned wife Mia in the basement of one of the houses on the Baker Ranch, but Mia was acting strange and later launched a frenzied attack on him.
After successfully subduing Mia, he was knocked unconscious by a surprise attack from Jack Baker.
When he woke up, Ethan was forced to share an unforgettable dinner with the Baker family, and was subsequently hunted by them.
Ethan was at a total loss regarding all of this.
With nowhere left to run, he had to take up arms to protect himself, eventually defeating Jack Baker and Marguerite Baker.
And with the help of his senior from the BSAA, Chris, he killed the culprit Eveline and successfully escaped the Baker Ranch with his wife Mia.
This incident became known as the Dulvey Incident, and it was also the first time the Mold appeared before the public. Unlike familiar viruses, this was a new type of biological weapon.
While it didn't have the rapid large-scale infection rate of a virus, its capacity for assimilation and control was far superior to the uncontrollability of viruses.
As for the source of the e-mold, it naturally originated from Mother Miranda far away in Eastern Europe.
In order to obtain a suitable vessel to resurrect her daughter, she chose to agree to give a sample of the Mold to a bioterrorist organization, which was named The Connections...
Eveline was born in 2014.
She was an E-series B.O.W. developed by the bioterrorist organization The Connections using the Mold sample provided by Mother Miranda and the DNA of Mother Miranda's daughter, Eva.
In October of the same year, Blue Umbrella decided to track down Eveline and her creators. To hide Eveline, the organization arranged for agents Alan Douglas and Mia Winters—Ethan's wife—
to pose as Eveline's parents and board the LNG tanker Annabelle to secretly transfer Eveline to a laboratory in Central America.
But on October 5th, the Annabelle encountered a severe hurricane at sea. Eveline began to go berserk, attacking and infecting her handler Alan.
Breaking free of his control, Eveline then began to vomit large amounts of mold, infecting, killing, and transforming every crew member on the ship.
In an attempt to stop Eveline, Mia began to hunt her down.
At this time, Eveline began to call Mia her "Mommy" and clearly expressed her desire and intention to have a family.
Simultaneously, as an act of revenge, Eveline killed Alan right in front of Mia, and infected Mia. Shortly after, a massive explosion occurred on the Annabelle.
Mia was thrown by the blast wave and fell into the water. The wreckage of the Annabelle eventually ran aground at the mouth of the Dulvey River in Louisiana.
On October 10th,
Lucas Baker discovered the wreckage of the Annabelle.
The unwitting Baker couple kindly rescued Eveline and Mia and brought them home to provide shelter.
Jack Baker and Zoe Baker placed Eveline in Lucas Baker's old bedroom, intending to clean her up and provide her with new clothes.
However, Eveline quickly cut off all power to the Baker house and escaped, gradually infecting and controlling the Baker family over the next two weeks.
Over the next three years, Eveline continuously manipulated the Baker couple and Lucas to kidnap innocent tourists and homeless people to take in as her "family."
Although Lucas escaped Eveline's mental control two years after being infected through a serum provided by The Connections, he continued to pretend to be under Eveline's control, secretly observing her and maintaining contact with The Connections.
Meanwhile, the Baker couple remained under Eveline's control. Under her manipulation, they murdered kidnap victims whom Eveline deemed unsuitable to be "family," and turned them into dinner.
Driven by her obsession with "family," in 2016, Eveline controlled the Baker couple to kidnap more and more people, causing a national sensation.
In the latter half of that same year, because she had stopped taking her medication, Eveline began to age rapidly at 25 times the rate of a normal person.
By early 2017, Eveline was no different from an 80-year-old woman. Frail and senile, she could only move about in a wheelchair, yet she still controlled the Baker couple to kidnap more people.
In July 2017,
Eveline controlled Mia to send an email to her husband Ethan, hoping that Ethan could become another father figure for Eveline.
Just as Ethan freed Mia in the basement and intended to escape with her, Eveline ordered Mia to kill Ethan in response to his unintentional attempt to break up the family.
But ultimately, Ethan managed to successfully fight back and defeat his infected wife. Subsequently, Ethan was knocked down by Jack and taken to the Main House next to Mia.
With Zoe's help, Ethan and Mia fought their way through, defeated the Baker couple, and escaped the Baker house. Eveline began to take revenge on Zoe,
and blocked their path with mycelium as Ethan and Mia approached the wreckage of the Annabelle. Eveline managed to kidnap Ethan and seal him deep within the ship's hold.
Mia had to enter the hold alone to search for her husband.
Regarding Mia's amnesia, Eveline grew increasingly frustrated. She had to try to help Mia regain her memories through the experiences shortly before the tanker was destroyed on October 5, 2014.
After recovering her memories, Mia felt utter contempt for Eveline, insisting that Eveline could never be her family. At this point, Eveline completely broke with the Winters couple.
Finally, Mia found Ethan and rescued him from the mycelium, then handed Ethan a small vial of the Eveline sample.
Before being controlled by Eveline, Mia forcibly pushed Ethan out of the cabin door. Spurred by his wife's sacrifice, Ethan decided to engage in a life-and-death showdown with Eveline.
He went to The Connections' laboratory in the salt mines and produced the E-Necrotoxin used to kill Eveline.
Facing a lethal threat, Eveline began to continuously warn Ethan not to approach through hallucinations, even using the controlled Mia to block Ethan's sight.
But the resilient Ethan still found Eveline in the attic and injected her with the E-Necrotoxin.
After the toxin was injected, Eveline's body began to rot and collapse,
eventually merging with the massive amount of mycelium in the house to become a giant monster.
After a fierce duel, Eveline was wounded by the anti-BOW pistol Ethan held, and shortly after, her entire body calcified and she died...
Follow-up, After Eveline's death, mycelium continued to grow near the site of the incident, and Blue Umbrella and the BSAA had to blockade and quarantine the area.
Eveline, as the first artificial intelligence biological BOW weapon created by the bioterrorist organization The Connections, was undoubtedly full of flaws.
And as an artificial human, she desperately craved the love of family, which is why she turned everyone she saw around her into her own family. Without a doubt, she was another pitiful child.
But after Mother Miranda learned that the Mold sample she gave to The Connections and the first artificial human biological weapon created, Eveline, had failed, she returned to the remote village in Romania, Eastern Europe, without any lingering attachment. Originally, she had wanted to rely on the power of The Connections to personally select a resurrection vessel for her daughter Eva.
But after seeing Eveline's performance, Mother Miranda abandoned that decision. After all, Eveline was full of flaws, and she didn't want her daughter Eva to be like Eveline.
However, it wasn't all bad news.
Although the creation of Eveline was a failure, Mother Miranda learned an important piece of news: the survivors of the ranch incident, Ethan and Mia, had successfully conceived and given birth to a baby girl named Rosemary Winters.
This was news that excited Mother Miranda.
Because both were infected with the Mold, the baby girl born to the infected was the perfect vessel. The Mold had completed a congenital fusion within the embryo, with almost no side effects.
This was an even more perfect existence than the artificial human Eveline created by The Connections.
Because this was a baby girl born through natural means, the Mold would not cause any rejection in her; it was almost a symbiotic fusion.
And this vessel was the most suitable for perfectly resurrecting her daughter Eva. After all, the gender was the same, and she was still an infant—it was beyond perfect.
This point can be referenced by Jake, the chosen one, the child born to Wesker and his mother, Mrs. Muller. A child successfully born to Wesker, who was infected with the progenitor virus, and an ordinary woman.
Although the mother, Mrs. Muller, had died early, the born Jake was perfect.
Because the progenitor virus in his body was innate, there was no need for any fusion, rejection, or adaptation process at all.
