[Sports Festival Stadium - Workshop - Mei's POV]
There were currently three people inside the small workshop, one of them carving some thick glass in a particular shape with the help of a red laser, the other replacing the wires inside the dismembered limbs hanging from swivel hooks in the ceiling, while the last one was using a small screwdriver to extract the small round camera inside a spiky head.
"Look at this mess!"
Mei finally managed to pull out the device that worked as Metal's right eye. The girl threw it up in the air before catching it and holding it in front of the exposed left camera that she had already replaced with a spare.
"Completely scraped! Not even I could turn this into something useful!"
...
"Actually, I could, but that's not the point!"
'I'm surprised his voice module is still intact.'
Letting out an internal groan, Mei threw the half-melted camera into a nearby trashcan—missing the shot completely—then she looked around Metal's head. Not finding what she wanted, she pushed the object aside, and behind it was the small crate she was looking for.
"The point is that there's only one match left until you have to fight again! Do you think that's enough time for me-"
Mei gestured towards herself with her index finger.
"To repair that!"
She finished her sentence while pointing at the hanging parts that released sparks from time to time, then she focused back on the small crate and grabbed another small camera.
"Was it necessary to take Popsicle's attack head-on? Why didn't you knock him out in the first place?!"
'Damn, I need to work on the way I arrange the circuits. It's like a snake pit in here!'
Sticking out her tongue in concentration, Mei leaned forward in her seat as her eyes zoomed in while she tried to put the camera in place without messing anything else up.
"Don't get me wrong, it looked cool, but the priority here is getting first place! Just imagine the headlines! 'First Robot To Debut As A Hero Student Wins The Sports Festival!'"
<'Endeavor's Prodigy Son Gets Beaten By The Creation Of A 16-Year-Old.'>
"Fair enough."
Mei finally settled the camera in its spot, which basically looked like a claw from a plushie machine but pointing forward, acting as a support that held the camera in place. The pink-haired girl used her screwdriver again to tighten the three 'fingers' around the small circular device.
"No shield for you, mister. These spares can't project the high-frequency laser pulses you use to crystallize the air into those black walls of yours, so I hope you rethink your choices."
"Don't talk as if you're not the reason he's like this."
Kyosuke approached the girl and the talking head with a piece of glass shaped like a visor. He grabbed the spike in the middle of Metal's head with his left hand to keep him in place, then he pushed the piece into place, making it release a pop as it attached. He gave the front of the glass a few smacks with the side of his fist before stepping back.
"That's going to fall off."
"You said it yourself, we don't have time. Now get your butt off that stool and help us put Metal back together."
"Izuku Midoriya trades his finger for a win once again! Is he going to win the festival by just flicking the air?!"
"Tokage's Quirk worked against her here. Just one of her pieces flying out of the arena was enough to make her lose. Anyways, we will come back to the finals once Midoriya visits Recovery Girl."
"I bet she's going to scold him."
Mei sprung up from her seat like a coil and ran over to Power Loader, who had just finished his work. The girl unhooked the hanging parts and threw them all on the floor without any care, making the other inventors in the room facepalm at the same time.
"What are you two doing?! Get to work! Do you think I'm paying you to look pretty?!"
"No one asked for your opinion, Metal!"

[Branch Nurse's Office - Midoriya's POV]
"How many times are you going to show up with a broken finger?"
'Don't make a weird face, don't make a weird face, don't make a weird face.'
Smooch!
Bonk!
"Ow!"
Recovery Girl leaned on the oddly-shaped cane she had just used to hit the boy sitting on the edge of the bed. She opened a drawer and pulled out a small bag of gummy bears, which she tossed into Midoriya's lap. He opened it up before grabbing a handful and shoving the small candies into his mouth.
'These don't taste that good.'
"Don't sit up, brat!"
"I sit up whenever the fuck I want, hag!"
Thwack!
Midoriya winced at the sound coming from the small bed in front of him. He slowly lifted his gaze up to look at the two ash-blondes currently fighting like dogs. Broccoli boy tried to intervene, but his quiet voice was ignored. Thankfully, the elderly woman in the room didn't have the patience to deal with those two.
Bonk!
Bonk!
"Shit!/Shit!"
'They're really a copy of each other...'
Mother and son complained at the same time as they rubbed the spot where they got hit. In Mitsuki's case, that was her hip, while for Katsuki it was on his head.
"People get way too comfortable in my workspace..."
The youthful Heroine muttered as she walked away towards the other side of the infirmary, where Todoroki was sleeping in another bed.
"Damn hag..."
This time Mitsuki didn't chastise her son for his lack of manners and instead opted to approach Midoriya to squish his face between her palms.
"Look at you, little Dori! I can see how much you've grown now that I have you up close!"
Midoriya's head was turned in all directions as the woman did a full checkup. After a few more seconds of embarrassment, she seemed satisfied and took a step back. A smile appeared on her face as she smoothed the front of her red shirt.
"So, you got a girlfriend?"
"A-ah?! No! W-W-Why would you say that?!"
Mitsuki tucked her hands inside the pockets of her jeans as she shrugged while wiggling her eyebrows at the boy with the tomato face.
"I saw you teaming up with that Uraraka girl. She's cute and a good fighter at that! Looks like you and Masaru share the same taste in women, isn't that funny?"
"S-S-SHE'S JUST A FRIEND!"
'But maybe... nonono! Snap out of it!'
Before Mitsuki could continue her round of teasing, the always stubborn Katsuki swung his legs to the side and pushed himself out of the bed.
"Speaking of the old man, where is he?"
"Huh? Oh, something came up last second, and he couldn't make it, but don't worry, I'm sure he saw you getting your ass kicked on his phone."
"Grrrr..."
"Anyways, now that you're awake, I can go back to the stands before Inko gets lost or something. I swear that woman's Quirk is being a clutz."
The woman gave her son a rough pat on the head, making the boy's growls even more intense, to which she only laughed as she shoved him back and walked towards the exit, though not before leaving some parting words.
"Zuku, if you need dating advice, make sure to call me, 'kay?"
"GET OUT!"
Bonk!
"Fuckin' hell..."
Midoriya munched his gummies in silence as he watched his childhood friend holding the side of his head after a metal tray struck him there.
'Recovery Girl has good aim. I should add that to my notebook.'
...
...
...
"Umm, that thing you did in your fight was really cool."
"What?"
"Y-you know, the thing with your feet?"
"Whatever, it wasn't rocket science. I don't know how the hag noticed something so obvious before I did."
Katsuki scoffed as he also left the infirmary while rubbing the sore spot on his head.
'Something obvious, huh?'

[Sports Festival Stadium - Metal's POV]
Metal's creator held her right hand in front of his face as she used her fingers to list various things.
"Okay, so no nitrogen, no shield, limited use on electricity and fire, your frontal panel is stuck with super glue, and no paint except for your right shoe, which makes you look dumb as hell, by the way. Overall, how are you feeling?"
<2/10 service, wouldn't recommend it.>
"Womp, womp."
Mei tapped four fingers against her thumb in a blah-blah-blah gesture while rolling her yellow eyes, then she pulled a magnet with her company logo from her pocket and stuck it straight in the center of Metal's forehead.
"I will be engraving the logo on you after the festival because at this rate I'm going to dedicate my whole life to making magnets. Anyways, cya."
Metal tapped the magnet on his forehead with his sharp index finger as he watched the retreating girl.
Hearing the question, Mei paused and looked over her shoulder with a raised eyebrow.
"Why would you need them? You will win anyways."
<...>
"What a goofball."
Mei let out a small laugh as she opened her arms wide for a hug before sprinting towards Metal, who tried to step back but was still caught by the slightly taller girl, who arched her back, lifting him slightly off the floor.
"I'm so happy with how far you've come, Metal. I always had faith in you, but seeing it with my own eyes makes me so, so proud of you!"
The girl unwrapped her arms from around Metal's cold body, letting him fall back onto his feet with a loud clang.
"I've spent my whole life working on you, and I can say without doubt that I don't regret it. I don't regret it at all."
Metal's eyes glowed brightly, matching the radiant smile that the girl in front of him was giving him.
"No matter what happens, you will remain my greatest creation, forever and ever."

Metal turned around to focus on the bright exit of the tunnel, completely ignoring the sound of laughter bouncing around the walls as his creator left.

"He has won every single match with just a finger! Some may say that was too simple, and they might be right, but what we can't argue is that the path was painful for him! Don't let his plain face fool you, as he has more raw power than a lot of Pros out there! The finalist: Izuku Midoriya!"
Metal closed every tab on his blue HUD as Present Mic did Midoriya's entrance. The stadium cheered louder than ever, not only because of the finals, but because they seemed to consider the green bean as their 'last chance'. To his credit, the boy did seem uncomfortable at the overly eager crowd telling him to destroy his own classmate.
"PLEASE, KID! WE NEED THIS!"
"YOU'RE THE LAST HUMAN STANDING, COME ON, DUDE!"

[This use of time is inefficient.]
This time Metal didn't wait for his introduction and went out of the tunnel. The sunlight reflected brightly on his silver frame, catching the attention of the crowd, making the loud screams slowly decrease. The black waist cape trailed behind him, almost touching the stairs with every step he took.
"S-Sorry you have to hear all that. I swear I have nothing against you!"
Midoriya put a hand on his chest as he exhaled in relief.
"Wait, what?"
"Death threats before I start the match? Now that is what I like to call passion~"
Midnight raised her feather fan high in the air, completely disregarding the pale boy standing on the left side of the field.
[Activating Back Thruster]
"Give us a good final show, boys~!"
[Back Thruster: Ready For Burst]
Whip!
Metal didn't even register Midnight's command as he shot forward like a bullet. The machine cleared the entire field in a few seconds, closing the distance between him and his opponent at the speed his data suggested would be more than enough to catch the boy off guard.
...
...
"For All Might's sake! It worked!"
The robot stared at his outstretched clawed hand, which had closed around nothing. Then, hearing the sound of someone landing behind him, he turned around, and upon doing so he found Midoriya standing there, looking down at the green lightning dancing around his body.
[Recalculating Win-Rate Against Izuku Midoriya...

"Huh?"
Whirrr!
Fwoosh!
"W-Woah!"
Midoriya formed an X in front of his chest using his forearms, effectively blocking the metallic fist, though it did leave a numb sensation on his left limb, which compared to broken bones was nothing, allowing him to ignore the pain easily. The green-haired boy quickly moved his arms and grabbed Metal's wrist with his left hand.
CLANK!
A loud noise came from the impact point between Metal's muzzle and Midoriya's right fist. The two orbs on the robot's face glitched for a second as his head turned slightly to the left due to the hit.
Fortunately, Metal was even better than Midoriya at dismissing pain, and he simply started preparing his next attack. The now paintless core ring on the machine's chest started rotating rapidly as yellow energy gathered in the dark center.
The yellow light caught Midoriya's attention, and already knowing the attack thanks to Bakugo's match, the boy opted for releasing the cold wrist he was holding and throwing himself to the side.
[Uni-Beam: Ready (25%)]
Vshoom!
Midoriya gritted his teeth as the beam grazed the left side of his hip, burning his gym uniform and throwing him off balance, sending him tumbling into the floor where he landed on his rear. Before the boy could think of standing up again, Metal was already upon him.
"OOOOW!"
The audience collectively grimaced as a silver fist connected directly against the front of Midoriya's face, forcing his back onto the ground as blood dripped from his nostrils. Unlike the spectators, Metal was indifferent to any pain he could be causing and quickly settled his weight on top of Midoriya's chest, pinning him to the ground.
Surprisingly, the boy was far from being knocked out, which he demonstrated by tilting his head side to side to avoid the next two punches that left prints on the cement. Then he put his right hand in front of Metal's chest.
"Delaware Smash!"
SWOOOSH!
The strong winds lifted Metal off Midoriya, carrying him up into the air in an erratic backwards rotation. Midoriya put his hands on each side of his body to sit up as he shook his head to get rid of the dizziness before jumping up towards Metal. Once he got close enough, the boy grabbed the black cloth connected to the robot's spiky belt with both hands, even as his right index finger protested.
Midoriya started spinning the machine around him in the air, making the wind slowly form a circle surrounding them both.
"Tulsa Smas-AH!"
The exact instant Midoriya gave the last push and released the cape, the dark fabric warped itself around his hand, dragging him along with its owner as they crashed into the arena. The concrete cracked under Metal's body as the robot impacted against it face first, while Midoriya managed to land on his left side before pulling his hand free from the living cape. Once he did, the boy jumped back while rubbing his sore side.
"Be amazed, support companies!"
Metal used both of his hands to push himself off the floor while shaking his head to get rid of the small debris clinging to his pointy nose. Then he and Midoriya turned to look towards their class seats, where a pink-haired girl was leaning over the railing while holding a megaphone. Just a little bit behind her, the class representative was shaking her head with apparent regret.
"That is one of Hatsume Industries' newest inventions! Smart fabric! I heard someone saying 'No capes,' and to that I will say: just make the capes useful! It's still in testing and can only perform basic tasks like not getting in the way, but I could do wonders with more funding, so please contact me with the following numb—"
Mei's expression turned sour as the microphone was ripped out of her hands by a stern-looking Yaoyorozu. Midoriya and Metal turned their gazes away from the drama to look at each other in silence. After a few seconds, Midoriya broke said silence with a nervous chuckle while cleaning the blood leaving his nose with the back of his left hand.
"Is she a-always like that?"
"Ah..."
<"Ah..." indeed.>

The green lightning surrounding Midoriya's body became more tame for a moment in response to the boy's shock as he took a small step back.
"I didn't think you would notice so soon..."
[Activating Electromagnetic Soles]
Metal took a step forward as the thruster on his back emitted that familiar whirring sound, as the spike in the middle started heating up.
A burst of flames pushed the robot towards Midoriya, who reacted by aiming his right hand forward. Red lines appeared on his middle finger as he tensed it against his thumb.
[Activating Flashbang...

"Delaware Sm—"
THWOOM!
"AH!"
The red glow on Midoriya's finger died down as his palms went up to his eye sockets in an attempt to get rid of the burning pain. Metal didn't let the opening go to waste and drove his left fist into his opponent's gut, sending him rolling backwards across the arena.
Midoriya's resistance to pain kicked in as he managed to gather himself and find his footing in record time, just as a shiny sphere tried to slam into his chest. The green lightning lagged behind his arms as he grabbed Metal's compressed body by the two flat circles on each side.
The spiky ball kept spinning just inches away from Midoriya's chest as he struggled for a bit until he lifted it above his head and slammed it down into the ground, killing the momentum and undoing the sphere. Seeing his opponent with his back flat on the ground, Midoriya inclined his torso forward with his left arm already poised for a punch.
Fwoosh!
Metal's forehead slammed against Midoriya's chin as he shot up to his feet using his thruster. The green-haired boy staggered back with blood falling from his busted lip. With another shake of his head, Midoriya got rid of the dark spots appearing in his vision. His eyes lit up as he took a sharp breath through his gritted teeth, then he leaped back, putting some distance between him and the machine.
[For every hit he takes, his time is cut off.]
The green lightning rose in intensity around Midoriya as he adjusted his footing. Red vein-like lines appeared once again, but this time running across his whole right arm. Wind started picking up around his body as he slightly flexed his knees, lowering his center of gravity.
[Seems like he has reached the same conclusion. I shall respond in kind.
Forcing Localized Overcharge]
Electricity gathered around Metal's left arm, coating the silver limb in blue arcs of energy. Slowly, the arm started turning a hot red as yellow sparks and black smoke poured out of it.

The ground broke beneath Midoriya's shoes as the boy pushed himself with enough force to shred his own pants up to his knees. Metal wasn't going to let his opponent outdo him and let his thruster carry him forward, dispersing the hot air rising around him and leaving a scorching mark on the floor.
Blue and green arcs trailed behind their respective sources as both students closed the distance between them in an instant. The two lights collided with each other as Midoriya and Metal met in the center of the arena. The green-haired boy was the first one to throw his right fist forward, aiming for the machine's face.
"SMAASH!"

Metal's head shot upwards with a trail of steam and black smoke following it. Midoriya's eyes widened as his fist met the empty space that was left, resulting in the gush of wind created by his hand smashing against the wall around the arena. He tried to pull his arm back at the last second, but it was too late to cancel the attack.

Metal stomped the ground, planting his feet firmly as his upper body rotated, carrying Midoriya's body with the motion. The dust kicked off around them as the machine moved faster and faster until finally he abruptly stopped, slamming Midoriya into the ground.
Blue electricity exploded outwards as spiderweb-like cracks formed around the platform due to the impact. The green lightning surrounding Midoriya's body slowly dimmed down as his eyes closed.
"IZUKU! YOU CAN DO IT, BABY!"
Midoriya's eyes snapped open at the sound of the wobbly voice coming from the crowd. Once more, that green aura started emanating from his body as he used his non-broken arm to sit up.
"Agh!"
SLAM!
"IZUKU!!"
Metal's headless body let go of the unconscious boy's neck after slamming him into the ground once more. A few meters away, the machine's head had fallen back into the concrete, forming a small crater. His yellow lens focused on the chubby woman gripping the railings as her friend rubbed her back.

"Izuku Midoriya is unconscious! Metal Hatsume is the winner!"
Following Midnight's words, a few people in the audience cheered for Metal, with the loudest one being a certain pink-haired girl, though most just stayed silent or clicked their tongues in distaste. Regardless of that, Metal's body walked over to his head and picked it up before attaching it back in place with a clicking sound.

The mentioned woman flinched at the sinister voice calling out to her, but she still turned her head slightly to look at the robot.

[Ten Minutes Later - Sports Festival Stadium - Narrator's POV]
Once again, the field in the center of the stadium was an empty red square, allowing most of the first-year students to fill the space. The crowd seemed to be in a good enough mood thanks to the efforts of Present Mic and Miku.
"We have concluded all the events! It's time for the award ceremony!"
Fwoosh! Whoosh! Bang! Bang! Pop! Pop!
The fireworks rose into the air after Midnight's words. Then a poof of smoke exploded in the patch of grass behind the Heroine. Slowly, a podium holding four students came into view. Midoriya seemed to find the arm sling holding the cast on his arm much more interesting than the loud crowd, Todoroki and Metal stood like statues, while Tokage seemed to be the only one enjoying the attention.
"Come on, Metal! Pose for the cameras!"
Mei ordered as she gestured to the line of reporters just behind the students.
"Yeah! You're bringing the mood down, Mr. First Place!"
Toru said while holding back a giggle as she stared at the grey tape surrounding Metal's arm up to his shoulder.
"Don't involve me."
"This year we have someone really special handing out the medals. I'm sure you can guess who it is...!"
"HAHAHA!"
The audience gasped in awe as a booming laugh came from the top of the stadium. The sunlight seemed to focus on the hulking figure that slowly walked to the edge. Then while everyone was watching The Symbol Of Peace leapt into the air without a care in the world.
"It is the number one Hero: All Might!/I AM HERE WITH THE MEDALS!"
All Might did a superhero landing in front of the podium. His fellow teacher let out a sheepish laugh as she approached him with the tray holding the medals.
"S-Sorry... I talked over you. Let's focus on handling the medals, yes?"
The tall man grabbed the two bronze medals before walking up the small stairs leading to the respective two students.
"Young Tokage, as the only member of Class 1-B on the podium, I'm sure you've made your classmates and teacher very happy, so wear the bronze with your head held high."
Once All Might put the prize around her neck, Tokage waved her arms at her classmates, who cheered for her.
"As for you, Young Todoroki, I'm glad to see that you decided to give it your all in your last match. Regardless of your loss, look at this as a win and a step forward to becoming a Hero."
Todoroki muttered a small 'thanks' as he stared down at the medal hanging from his neck. All Might gave the two teenagers in front of him a pat on their heads before walking over to the second place with Midnight trailing behind him.
"Young Midoriya, as your teacher, I'm very impressed by your performance! Who would have thought that the boy who couldn't handle his own Quirk would get so far?"
All Might put the silver medal around Midoriya's neck, then he leaned down for a hug while being careful not to touch the boy's arm.
"I have no idea what that stunt that you pulled at the end was, but it was amazing. You certainly told the world: 'I am Here'."
"A-All Might..."
Midoriya seemed to hold back an entire river in his eyes after his mentor muttered those words to him. All Might gave the boy one last nod of approval, then he jumped slightly to get in front of the first place.
"Now what to say to you, Young Metal? Never in all my years of heroism would I have expected to find myself in this situation, yet here we are."
All Might reached back to grab the gold medal that Midnight was holding towards him, but just as he was about to put it on Metal, the robot stopped him by pointing at the students gathered in front of the podium.
The Symbol Of Peace followed Metal's finger, and upon doing so his eyes focused on a batch of pink dreads. All Might didn't hesitate to invite the girl onto the podium with a gesture of his head. Mei quickly sprinted forward, and in just a second she was already standing beside her creation with a bright smile on her face.
"Young Hatsume, there's no doubt in my mind that you're one of the brightest minds of this generation. Do not be discouraged by those who are wary of your creation. Change is something that takes time and effort."
"Let them talk, All Might! It's all publicity at the end of the day!"
"O-Of course..."
All Might let out a fake cough on his closed fist before turning around to face the crowd of students.
"These are the winners of this Sports Festival, but I want to say that any of you could have ended up in this podium! As long as you keep striving forward and fighting for your goals, then it doesn't matter which type of Quirk you have!"
Somehow, All Might's hand seemed to shine as he held it above his head with his index finger pointing at the sky.
"Now there's only one thing left to say...!"
Every single person in the stadium and watching at home seemed to think about the exact same words, and so they screamed them with all their might.
"PLUS ULTRAAA!"
"Thank you for your hard work!"
...
...
...
"EHHHH?! THAT WAS THE PERFECT TIME FOR A 'PLUS ULTRA', ALL MIGHT!"
The Symbol Of Peace put his hands together as he tapped the tips of his index fingers against each other while the crowd booed at him.
"I-I just thought they worked really hard..."
"I'm sorry..."

[??? - All For One's POV]
'How interesting...'
Despite the darkness of the room or the dozens of tubes connected to his body, All For One didn't seem bothered in the slightest as he kept his left hand on top of a small monitor, allowing a current to go up from his fingers all the way up to his eyeless head, transferring the image of a pink-haired girl hugging a silver robot.
'So that is the reason why Tomura has been so quiet, hmm?'
ZZZRRRK...
The image on the monitor changed from the Sports Festival to a camera in Tomura's bedroom. His new desk had been turned into dust once more as he stood still in the middle of his room. All For One shook his head slightly in disapproval, but he didn't seem too concerned.
'The doctor has some competition, eh? That's okay. This society is crawling with... misunderstood geniuses, and I've been around long enough to know some of them.'
ZZZRRRK...
A bright red 'S' appeared on the monitor. The only sound coming from the other side was heavy breathing, then after a few moments a raspy voice spoke up with a surprised tone.
"Ah...? You're still alive? What a tasty surprise!"

IM FINALLY DONE WITH THIS ARC, LETSFUCKINGGOOOOO!
also someone asked about Metal's voice in the early chapters and since i didn't want to spoil the neo form i'll just answer here, in his previous body his voice was the one used in the "dead or alive" meme, i think its a tts, the current one is Ryan Drummond so the same voice he had in sonic heroes.
srry if i skipped tokage's fight but uhh, i couldn't picture izuku struggling against her at least in this scenario, initially i was going to write Midoriya vs Metal in Izuku's POV but to give him some more development but i'll just do that in the future, also how many people with M names are on this fic? Mei, Midnight, Midoriya, Metal, Miku, Momo, Monoma, Mineta and god knows how many more, like damn.
I have this Tuesday off work so I'm hoping i can release the next chapter either that day or Wednesday
